Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Inpatient Medical Coder to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing medical records, assigning accurate inpatient diagnosis and procedure codes, conducting coding audits, and ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, a commitment to accuracy, and experience working in a remote healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review inpatient medical records and documentation to ensure coding accuracy and completeness.
- Assign and sequence ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and other applicable codes for services rendered.
- Conduct coding audits and quality reviews, including work completed by outsourced or co-sourced partners.
- Ensure compliance with Medicare regulations, coding guidelines, and industry standards.
- Work independently to manage and complete assigned coding queues within established productivity and quality metrics.
- Provide coding guidance and support to billing and revenue cycle teams as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and company data in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and collaboration in all interactions.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification from AAPC or AHIMA.
- Minimum of 1 year of inpatient medical coding experience.
- Proficiency in coding software, electronic health records (EHR), and other job-related applications.
- Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, Medicare guidelines, and coding compliance requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
