About the Role
The IT Retail Technician is responsible for providing technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT systems used in Spinneys PH stores. This role ensures the continuous availability and reliability of POS systems, network connectivity, peripherals, and store IT infrastructure to support efficient operations and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure and maintain POS terminals, back-office PCs, scanners, receipt printers, price checkers and kiosks
- Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance of store systems
- Troubleshoot POS hardware and software issues to minimize downtime
- Support LAN, WiFi, routers, switches and structured cabling
- Troubleshoot internet, VPN, and inter store connectivity issues
- Coordinate with telco and network service providers on outages or escalations
- Set up IT systems for new stores, renovations or relocations
- Install POS units, network devices, and peripherals during store fit-outs
- Ensure compliance with IT security standards and access controls
- Apply patches, updates, antivirus and basic security measures
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics or related course
- At least 3 years of experience in IT support, field technical or service desk role
- Experience supporting retail or supermarket operations is preferred
- Hands-on experience with POS systems, networks and hardware troubleshooting
Required Skills
- Knowledge of:
- POS hardware and retail systems
- Windows operating systems and basic server concepts
- LAN/WAN, Wi‑Fi, routers, and cabling
- IT ticketing and incident management processes
- Basic understanding of IT security and data protection
- Proficient in documentation and basic reporting
