Job Description
Overview
We are seeking a Manager for the IT Program Management Office. You will own delivery across our program portfolio, and you will own the team: how work is taken in and prioritized, how programs are planned and tracked, how risk surfaces early, and how program managers grow.
This is a permanent work-from-home, full time, and night shift role.
Responsibilities
Program Delivery
- Own delivery across the portfolio: scope, schedule, dependencies, and risk across programs.
- Surface risks early with a recommendation, not just a flag. Drive resolution rather than reporting status.
Intake and Prioritization
- Partner with business analysts and engineering to convert stated requests into validated requirements before build.
- Model capacity and hold the prioritization line across new development, optimization, and support.
Process Management
- Own PMO standards: planning artifacts, work breakdown discipline, status reporting, and work management platform hygiene.
- Own the executive reporting pipeline, including status calibration and escalation criteria.
- Identify and fix process gaps without being asked. Own portfolio metrics and report them monthly.
Day-to-Day Management
- Lead a team of program and project managers across junior, intermediate, and senior levels.
- Set priorities, assign programs to the right level of PM, and hold delivery commitments.
- Resolve cross-functional conflict at your level. Escalate patterns, not incidents.
Coaching and Performance
- Coach program managers toward independence, including the judgment to deviate from plan when conditions change.
- Build a team that identifies problems and solves them rather than waiting for direction.
Qualifications
- 7+ years in technical program or project management, including three or more years directly managing five or more program managers.
- You have run a portfolio of concurrent software delivery programs, not one project at a time.
- You have owned intake and prioritization.
- When you joined, the process was scattered.
- Stabilized the process by creating and documenting a project intake workflow.
- Established controls around the process.
- Requestors can submit requests with information such as the nature of the project, project name, and request date.
- You have delivered in a regulated environment with external audit or compliance obligations, such as FDA, DEA, DSCSA, SOC 2, SOX, or GxP.
- Experience working with compliance requirements.
- Experience with projects involving SOC 2.
- Experience working with external audit and assurance stakeholders.
- You have built or materially rebuilt a PMO process.
- Established processes and tools to help manage and support prioritization.
- Deep working knowledge of Azure DevOps or an equivalent work management platform, including backlog structure and reporting.
- You have worked where your team owned outcomes end to end, set its own delivery standards, and made scope and schedule decisions.
- Strong written and verbal English, working directly with US-based stakeholders.
- Willing to work a full North American shift (graveyard schedule).
- Stable home internet with a minimum speed of 25 Mbps.
