Job Description

Role Overview

The IT Development Manager leads the IT Development Unit, ensuring that Netbank's technology projects are delivered with focus, pace, and business impact. This is a leadership role not just project tracking, but providing direction, prioritization, and accountability to support the effective execution of Netbank's technology priorities.

The role is a Senior Manager-level position reporting to the Chief Information Officer.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Direction & Prioritization

  • Provide clear direction to the IT Development team, setting priorities aligned with business needs and leadership direction.
  • Work with senior managers and business owners to identify, structure, and prioritize IT initiatives.
  • Ensure clarity of objectives, scope, owners, and success metrics for all development projects.

2. Drive Action & Accountability

  • Hold team members, managers, and vendors accountable for timelines, quality, and deliverables.
  • Intervene and escalate as needed to resolve blockers, delays, or unclear ownership.
  • Maintain visibility on project trade-offs to enable fast, well-informed decisions.

3. Support Execution Discipline

  • Oversee the practical execution of IT projects—across CBS, Mobile, Netbank Virtual/API, peripherals, and white-label platforms.
  • Ensure use of project management tools (CRFs, plans, checklists, update templates) and adherence to Netbank's delivery framework.
  • Track progress, but focus on taking action when delivery is off-track.
  • Provide regular updates to the CIO and relevant stakeholders on status, risks, and required decisions.

4. Enhance Team Effectiveness

  • Coach and support IT Development team members, setting expectations for accountability, responsiveness, and delivery quality.
  • Build a culture of ownership, urgency, and continuous improvement.
  • Gather stakeholder feedback and address root causes of delivery issues.

5. Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Define vendor selection criteria, evaluate and manage vendor performance, and address underperformance.
  • Align delivered solutions with business teams, partners, and internal operations through clear communication and updates.

6. Compliance & Post-Implementation

  • Ensure all implementations comply with regulations, internal policies, security, and IT governance standards.
  • Monitor application health, open tickets, downtime, and recurring issues.
  • Coordinate post-implementation review and issue resolution.
