Job Description: IT Controller

Information Technology

Reports to: IT Director

Role Purpose

The IT Controller supports the IT Director in ensuring the effective financial, operational, and compliance management of the IT function. This role oversees IT budgeting, cost control, audit readiness, performance reporting, and the overall governance of IT initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Management & Budget Control

- Assist in the preparation, consolidation, and monitoring of IT Capex and Opex budgets.

- Track actual spending versus approved budgets and provide variance analysis.

- Ensure cost efficiency in IT operations and procurement.

- Support the IT Director in presenting financial reports.

2. Governance, Compliance & Audit

- Ensure the IT function adheres to audit requirements and regulatory standards.

- Maintain documentation, controls, and audit‑ready processes.

- Coordinate internal and external audit activities.

3. IT Operations Support & Coordination

- Monitor performance indicators of IT systems.

- Support operational teams in meeting service-level targets.

- Coordinate cross-departmental requirements.

4. Project Management Support

- Provide administrative and financial governance support for IT projects.

- Validate project documentation and ensure alignment to standards.

- Monitor project expenses, milestones, and reporting.

5. Data Security & Risk Management

- Support implementation of controls safeguarding customer and business data.

- Assist in risk assessments and security compliance reviews.

6. Team & Stakeholder Collaboration

- Work with IT leadership, store operations, finance, procurement, and corporate IT teams.

- Provide guidance on IT governance and financial protocols.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Finance, or related field.

- 5–7 years of experience in IT operations, IT financial management, governance, or audit.

- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities.

- Knowledge of IT systems, infrastructure, and project management.

- Experience in retail or multi‑site environment is an advantage.

- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
