About the Information Security and Systems Specialist Role

The Information Security and Systems team is the engine driving our uniquely dynamic, high-achieving, multicultural, multi-continental team at the cutting edge of how evidence is used to improve global development programs. This team's mandate is to build systems that enable IDinsight teams to achieve social impact. Our team is currently hiring an Information Security and Systems Specialist to own the administration of Salesforce, our system of record for client development and fundraising.

You will take over a platform that is already live and in use. That makes the job one of stewardship rather than construction: keeping configuration coherent as teams ask for changes, keeping access appropriate as people join and move, keeping data clean enough that leadership trusts what the dashboards say, and keeping users unblocked.

Salesforce is one piece of a wider Systems transformation initiative that also includes an ERP, a professional services automation tool, and a planned data warehouse. As those come online, your remit grows with them. We are hiring for someone who wants to become the person who knows how IDinsight's core enterprise systems actually fit together.

Responsibilities

As an Information Security and Systems Specialist, your core day-to-day work may include:

  • Salesforce administration — Owning declarative configuration: users and licences, permission sets, roles and sharing rules, record types, page layouts, picklists, validation rules, and Flows.
  • Identity and access management — Running the joiner-mover-leaver process through our identity provider, designing permissions to least privilege, conducting periodic access reviews, and maintaining an auditable record of who can see and change what.
  • User support — Helping to unblock system issues for users, running office hours, and documenting playbooks to resolve recurrent issues.
  • Onboarding and enablement — Getting new joiners productive on the platform, and keeping role-based reference material current as configuration changes.
  • Data integrity — Monitoring field completeness and duplicates, producing data quality reports for regional and functional owners, and executing bulk data changes safely.
  • Reporting and analytics — Building and maintaining reports and dashboards for Finance, Fundraising, Chiefs of Staff, and the executive team.
  • Change intake and prioritisation — Deciding what is configuration versus what needs development, and saying no to the ones that would cost more than they return.
  • Vendor and partner management — Managing the backlog with our external Salesforce partner: writing clear requirements, prioritising, and acceptance-testing what comes back.
  • Documentation and change control — Maintaining configuration records and runbooks so that any change can be explained six months later.
  • Enterprise systems administration — Taking on administration of additional systems as the wider programme delivers them.

Professional Growth and Internal Contributions

Beyond your core responsibilities, you will contribute to the Information Security and Systems team and your own professional development through:

  • Systems Support: You will occasionally provide general Systems Support via our internal help desk. This gives you direct insight into the technical challenges IDinsighters face and lets you deliver high-impact solutions.
  • Continuous Learning: IDinsight utilizes a diverse ecosystem of tools. While we don't expect day-one mastery of every system, we look for a commitment to building deep technical expertise over time. We support certification, including the Salesforce Administrator credential.

Qualifications

We're looking for an entrepreneurial, get stuff done teammate with 3–5 years of relevant experience. Desired qualifications include:

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in systems administration, IT, or related roles, including at least two years administering Salesforce in a live production org;
  • Salesforce Certified Administrator credential preferred; we support candidates who wish to certify after joining;
  • Experience with Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud preferred;
  • Hands-on competence with declarative configuration — permission sets, sharing model, record types, Flow — and the judgment to know when a request needs a developer instead;
  • Comfort building reports and dashboards, and performing bulk data operations with appropriate care;
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other quantitative disciplines;
  • Experience administering enterprise systems such as workspace collaboration suites, ITSM tools, HRIS, SASE, ATS, ERP, etc.;
  • Familiarity with single sign-on, directory provisioning, and access review practices;
  • Strong communicator in multiple forms (written communications, public speaking, teamwork, and upward management), with a track record of explaining technical things to people who do not enjoy technical things;
  • Detail- and execution-oriented, able to take a task from high-level strategic idea to rapid execution with a large amount of autonomy and conscientiousness;
  • Demonstrated track record as a self-starter and leader, including comfort with ambiguity and dynamic environments and work streams;
  • Strong desire for professional growth and development, with a track record of openness to give and receive feedback;
  • Strong problem-solving skills in handling system challenges;
  • People-focused and people-facing, with high levels of empathy and desire to listen to and share in teammates victories, concerns, and needs;
  • Strong ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality in complex situations;
  • Ability to handle sensitive information, data, and issues with mature and discreet professionalism;
  • Ability to work with international, cross-cultural, and diverse teams across time zones.
