Job Description

Company Description

Buko Lab is a boutique strategy consulting firm that connects ambitious visions with real-world execution. We partner with global manufacturing firms bring industrial hardware, construction equipment and commercial products to market, with a primary focus on driving expansion across the regions of North America (USA, Canada, and Mexico) and Asia-Pacific. Our approach goes beyond high-level strategy; we turn these into reality by build the infrastructure for success with our management information systems, product engineering, and design systems required to actually win market share and perform on the job site. We translate complex technical advantages into undeniable retail presence and market share, redefining consulting through a lean, results-driven ethos.

Role Description

This is a full-time, remote role for an Industrial Designer. This position bridges commercial packaging, physical event spaces, and core product engineering.

Your responsibilities will span three main areas:

  • Packaging & Labeling: Your immediate focus will be structural packaging, product labels, and retail merchandising. You will design bold, high-visibility retail sleeves, boxes, and labels for industrial fasteners and tools. The goal is to create packaging that grabs attention on crowded North American hardware shelves and clearly communicates key product specs to the buyer at a glance.
  • Trade Shows & Exhibitions: You will own the physical anatomy of our manufacturing partners trade show presence. This involves 3D spatial planning for booth flow, engineering custom display racks and secure mounts for heavy tools, and designing structural packaging for premium giveaways. You will work closely with our Multimedia Designerproviding exact 3D dimensions so they can design 2D visual skins (banners, wraps) to map onto your structural models before any physical fabrication begins.
  • Product Engineering: You will transition into core industrial product engineering. This includes improving the ergonomics of existing hardware, prototyping new product lines, and handling the structural design of heavy-duty, powder-actuated fastening tools (tools requiring the use of gunpowder).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
  • A portfolio demonstrating physical product engineering, structural retail packaging, and 3D spatial/exhibition design.
  • Proven experience with industrial hardware, heavy manufacturing, or construction goods.
  • Standout capability: Direct experience designing mechanically complex, safety-critical tools (e.g., powder-actuated systems).
  • Ability to translate technical specifications (e.g., pull-out strength, mechanical load capacities, dimensions) into clear, functional packaging and product labels.
  • Expertise in CAD, 3D modeling (e.g., Autodesk Fusion, Blender, or similar), and rendering for rapid prototyping, packaging mockups, and trade show booth layouts.
  • Deep understanding of physical materials (metals, high-impact plastics, acrylics), injection molding, and manufacturing at scale.
  • Prior experience designing for the North American market (Canada, US, Mexico).

What We Provide

  • Fully-remote setup.
  • Optional access to a physical workspace in Iloilo City equipped with 3D Printers and Machining tools for hands-on prototyping.
  • Premium design software coverage, CAD license, and digital tools required for the job.
  • Opportunities for company-sponsored travel to international trade shows to see your booth designs and products in action.
  • Full coverage of standard government benefits and comprehensive health insurance.
  • Includes standard 13th-month pay.
