Job Description

Keeping abreast of Goods and Services Tax (GST) requirements remains a challenge for many businesses. KPMG's Indirect Tax team helps clients navigate their GST obligations through practical, innovative and commercially focused solutions. As an Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for managing GST compliance engagements, reviewing the work of junior team members, and helping to drive the operational effectiveness of the team. This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys both technical GST work and people leadership.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and/or reviewing GST return worksheets and GST returns.
  • Preparing and/or reviewing GST Statement of Claims.
  • Conducting GST health checks on the GST returns of businesses, including the GST Assisted Self-Help Kit (ASK) review and GST Assisted Compliance Assurance Programme (ACAP) review.
  • Assisting clients with GST registration, deregistration and other GST applications to IRAS.
  • Providing practical GST guidance on routine GST issues arising from clients day-to-day operations and compliance obligations.
  • Supervising, coaching and developing junior team members, including providing technical guidance, performance feedback and on-the-job training.
  • Liaising with clients and internal stakeholders to manage compliance deadlines and resolve GST queries.
  • Supporting managers and partners in the delivery of GST compliance and related advisory engagements.
  • Keeping abreast of GST developments and sharing relevant technical updates and best practices with the team.
  • Promoting a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and high-quality client service within the team.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Possess a bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Economics, Finance, Business or Law.
  • Possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the area of Singapore GST (or similar experience in a comparable jurisdiction).
  • Experience in a Big Four environment or shared service centre would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience managing GST compliance engagements and delivering work directly to clients.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring and reviewing the work of junior team members.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, develop and guide a team.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply GST principles to practical business situations.
  • A proactive, collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
