Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer Consultant to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and reliable network services across a large enterprise environment. You'll be supported by a strong team of technical managers, engineers, and project specialists.
Technical Requirements
- 7+ years as a hands-on network engineer in large enterprise environments.
- Advanced expertise in EIGRP, TCP/IP, Multicast, LON, protocol redistribution; strong knowledge of BGP and IS/IS preferred.
- Deep knowledge of LAN technologies (HSRP, STP, VLANs, IP-subnetting).
- Strong expertise in WLAN technologies (Controllers, WAPs, Cisco Prime, 802.11 fundamentals).
- Familiarity with cabling infrastructure and specifications.
- Experience with corporate change management procedures and project planning.
- Certifications: CCNP required; CCIE (or written) is a plus.
- BA/BS degree preferred (not mandatory with CCNP/CCIE).
Key Responsibilities
- Restore services quickly within SLA while minimizing business impact.
- Act as the single point of contact for Major Incident Management.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and support Cisco routers (900x, 3900, 3800), switches (3700, 6500, 4500, ASR, Nexus 5500/7000/9000).
- Configure and support Cisco wireless access points and controllers.
- Monitor incidents, execute network changes, and participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.
- Open and manage TAC cases with vendors.
- Ensure compliance with change control processes and configuration standards.
- Provide timely and accurate communication to stakeholders.
Secondary Functions
- Review and validate network change scripts.
- Perform network captures using protocol analyzers and wireless tools.
- Mentor junior engineers and peers.
- Maintain documentation (Visio, inventories, support docs).
- Identify process improvements and assist in workload distribution.
