The opportunity

General Counsel Office

The General Counsel's Office provides expert legal guidance and support to protect and advance the interests of the organization. We handle a wide range of legal matters, including compliance, risk management, corporate governance, and litigation. Our team ensures that the organization operates within the law while achieving its strategic goals. By offering proactive and strategic legal advice, we help navigate complex legal landscapes and mitigate potential risks.

As a Legal Counsel, you will provide high-quality legal support and advice across a wide range of commercial, regulatory, governance, and corporate matters, with a particular focus on client engagement and procurement agreements. You will work closely with the General Counsel Legal team, Risk Management team, and business stakeholders to manage legal risks, support strategic initiatives, and help drive the continued development of the legal function.

Your key responsibilities

• Deliver and assist in the delivery of the highest-quality legal services with a focus on legal support for client engagement agreements and procurement agreements.
• Develop a keen understanding of the business and risk management framework.
• Build relationships with the General Counsel Legal team, Risk Management team, and service line quality leaders.
• Providing technical legal services and advice in all practice and business areas. This includes giving (or supporting through the coordination of external counsel) advice and assistance on commercial and labor contracts, labor disputes, governance, professional indemnity insurance, regulatory and corporate matters.
• Strategic planning and development of the GCO function.
• After demonstrated success, you will also have opportunity to expand the initial scope based on your experience, ability and interest, to include:
• Managing high value/complex contracts and significant client relationships independently
• Advising on public policy, regulatory and compliance related matters such as management and resolution of complex and brand-affecting litigation, disputes and regulatory investigations; and/or
• Developing a practice in respect of transactions management, corporate governance, intellectual property asset management and restructuring.

Skills and attributes for success

What we look for:

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD)
• Licensed Attorney-at-Law and member in good standing of the Bar

• Demonstrate knowledge of the professional services industry and its regulatory framework.
• Possess experience in technology contracts, data privacy, and intellectual property matters.
• Be solutions-oriented with a relentless focus on world-class execution, coupled with a strong sense of personal responsibility and ownership.
• Demonstrate the capacity to continuously identify areas for personal development and effectively absorb guidance and feedback, resulting in tangible improvements.

• Be a dynamic, resourceful, and driven individual who is also a team player, with an interest in navigating an evolving regulatory and business landscape.
• Demonstrate an excellent command of written and spoken English.
