About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented Illustration Production Artist with a strong visual eye and excellent written English skills to support the production of illustrated children's books.

In this role, you will oversee the visual consistency and quality of illustrations throughout the book production process. You will review AI-generated images, refine visual elements, prepare detailed scene descriptions, and ensure that every page meets the required creative and quality standards before submission for approval.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and finalize character, location, and prop designs for each book to ensure visual consistency throughout the project.
• Create clear and detailed scene descriptions and directions for book covers and individual pages.
• Review AI-generated illustrations for anatomical accuracy, proper scale, visual consistency, and logical accuracy.
• Identify and correct illustration issues using available editing tools, including Tweak and region-specific editing features, or regenerate images when necessary.
• Review and refine English scene descriptions and explanations for each page.
• Prepare completed books for submission and approval through the NLA review process.
• Manage production batches of approximately 10 books while monitoring workflow efficiency and API usage costs.
• Follow established production guidelines and ensure that all deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Background in Graphic Design, Illustration, Art Direction, or Children's Book Production.
• Strong visual judgment and the ability to identify inconsistencies and errors in illustrations.
• Excellent written English skills, particularly in writing clear, accurate, and detailed visual descriptions.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of following structured production workflows and approval processes.
• Comfortable working with web-based tools and digital platforms.
• A portfolio showcasing relevant illustration, graphic design, or visual production work.
• No programming or coding experience required.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience in children's book publishing or educational content production.
• Familiarity with AI-powered image generation and editing tools.
• An interest in European and Mediterranean culture, architecture, and settings.

Work Setup:

• Fully remote position
• Minimum commitment of 40 hours per week.
• Project-based engagement.
• Must be available to work during Malta business hours (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CET) | 3:00 PM to 12MN (PHT)
