Job Title:

Storage Specialist – IBM Fusion for Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization

Skill Level: L2 and L3

Role Overview:

The Storage Specialist will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing IBM Fusion storage solutions integrated with Red Hat OpenShift (RHOCP) virtualization environments. This role ensures high availability, scalability, and performance of storage infrastructure supporting containerized workloads and virtual machines

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & Architecture:
• Architect IBM Fusion storage solutions for RHOCP virtualization clusters.
• Ensure optimal integration with OpenShift Container Storage (OCS) and CSI drivers.
• Plan storage capacity, performance tuning, and redundancy strategies.
• Deployment & Configuration:
• Install, configure, and maintain IBM Fusion storage systems.
• Integrate storage with OpenShift virtualization (KubeVirt) for persistent volumes.
• Implement storage classes, dynamic provisioning, and snapshots.
• Operations & Maintenance:
• Monitor storage health, performance, and utilization.
• Perform firmware upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
• Troubleshoot storage-related issues in OpenShift clusters.
• Automation & Optimization:
• Develop automation scripts for provisioning and scaling storage resources.
• Optimize storage for containerized workloads and virtual machines.
• Security & Compliance:
• Implement encryption, access controls, and compliance policies.
• Ensure data protection and disaster recovery strategies.
• Collaboration:
• Work closely with OpenShift administrators, virtualization engineers, and cloud teams.
• Provide technical guidance and documentation for storage best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong experience with IBM Fusion storage systems and SAN/NAS technologies.
• Hands-on expertise in Red Hat OpenShift and OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt).
• Knowledge of Container Storage Interface (CSI) and persistent volume management.
• Familiarity with Linux administration, networking, and virtualization concepts.
• Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) for storage provisioning.
• Understanding of data protection, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• IBM Storage certifications.
• Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Virtualization.
• Experience in hybrid cloud environments and Kubernetes storage solutions.
