HVAC ESTIMATOR
SHIFT: DAY / MORNING PHT
TYPE: FULL TIME, INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical HVAC Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning projects. The HVAC Estimator will review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs for commercial, residential, or industrial HVAC systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents for HVAC projects
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, quotations, and bid proposals
- Perform quantity take-offs for ductwork, piping, insulation, controls, and HVAC equipment
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and lead times
- Analyze labor, material, and equipment costs to ensure competitive and accurate bids
- Identify project risks, scope gaps, and value engineering opportunities
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and sales teams during pre-construction and bidding phases
- Maintain and update cost databases, estimating templates, and historical pricing records
- Attend site inspections, pre-bid meetings, and client discussions when required
- Ensure estimates comply with project specifications, building codes, and company standards
- Assist in contract handover and project transition to operations teams after award
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Technology, Construction Management, or related field preferred
- Proven experience as an HVAC Estimator or in a related estimating/construction role
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, ducting, piping, ventilation, and mechanical equipment
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications
- Proficiency in estimating software and MS Office applications
- Knowledge of AU construction codes, standards, and HVAC regulations
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet bid deadlines
Preferred Skills
- Experience in commercial, industrial, or residential HVAC projects
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Trimble, or similar estimating tools
- Knowledge of procurement and subcontractor coordination
- Understanding of project scheduling and budgeting
