About The Job
The HR Systems Functional Business Analyst serves as the functional bridge between HR process owners and HR technology platforms. The role ensures that HR modules are correctly configured, tested, released, and supported in line with business requirements and quarterly product updates. The objective is to enable stable, compliant, and user-friendly HR systems while ensuring HR users are well-prepared for changes through structured impact assessment, training, and governance.
Key Objective
- Ensure effective module-level configuration, testing, and deployment of HR systems
- Drive smooth adoption of quarterly product releases through impact assessment and user training
- Provide Tier 1 functional support to maintain system stability and business continuity
- Enforce governance over user assignments to ensure proper access, compliance, and control
- Act as a trusted functional partner to HR process users and HR technology stakeholders
What You'll Do
Business Analysis & Functional Ownership
- Act as the functional owner for assigned HR system modules (e.g., Core HR, Payroll, Talent, Time, Analytics)
- Translate HR business requirements into functional specifications and configuration requirements
- Partner with HR stakeholders to ensure system solutions align with HR processes and policies
Module Configuration & Testing
- Perform module-related configuration based on approved business requirements
- Conduct module-wise functional testing , including unit testing, regression testing, and UAT support
- Document test scenarios, test results, and defect resolutions
- Ensure configurations and changes are compliant with HR, payroll, and data governance standards
Product Release & Impact Management
- Review product release notes on a module-wise basis for quarterly and ad-hoc releases
- Perform impact assessment of quarterly product releases , identifying process, data, and user impacts
- Provide clear recommendations on required configuration changes, testing scope, and user readiness actions
Training & Change Enablement
- Deliver product release training to HR process users , focusing on functional changes and impacts
- Coordinate with Knowledge Management (KM) teams for training materials, roll-out plans, and user communications
- Support creation and maintenance of job aids, release summaries, and user guides
Tier 1 Support & Issue Management
- Provide Tier 1 functional support for HR system issues, including defect triage and basic fixes
- Analyze reported issues, identify root causes, and resolve or escalate as needed
- Coordinate with IT, vendors, or Tier 2/Tier 3 support for complex defects
- Track defects and resolutions to closure, ensuring minimal disruption to HR operations
User Assignment & Access Governance
- Perform review and approval of user assignments in line with role-based access and segregation of duties
- Ensure access requests comply with HR, audit, and data privacy standards
- Partner with HR Operations, Payroll, and Security teams to maintain clean and compliant access controls
Stakeholder Collaboration & Governance
- Work closely with HR Business Partners, HR Operations, Payroll, IT, and external vendors
- Support governance forums by providing functional insights on system changes, risks, and readiness
- Ensure proper documentation and audit readiness for system changes and releases
What You Need To Have
- At least 3–6 years of experience as a Business Analyst, HR Functional Analyst, or HRIS Analyst
- Proven experience working with HR systems and modules (e.g., Core HR, Payroll, Time, Talent, Learning, or Analytics)
- Hands-on experience in system configuration, testing, and release management
- Experience supporting quarterly or regular product releases in an HR technology environment
- Exposure to HR Operations, Payroll, or Shared Services is strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Functional & Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of HR processes and end‑to‑end HR operations
- Experience in module-level configuration and functional testing
- Ability to perform release note review and impact assessment (module-wise)
- Solid knowledge of UAT, regression testing, defect tracking, and resolution
- Familiarity with role-based access control and user assignment governance
- Comfortable working with HR data, system controls, and compliance requirements
- Business Analysis Skills
- Strong requirements interpretation, documentation, and validation skills
- Ability to translate business needs into functional specifications and system solutions
- Structured approach to problem-solving and root cause analysis
- Ability to balance business needs, system capabilities, and risk controls
- Relevant certifications are an advantage (e.g., Business Analysis, HRIS, Agile, ITIL, Workday/SAP/Oracle/SuccessFactors/
