About The Role
The
HR Generalist performs day-to-day Human Resources activities by providing a broad range of support services to ensure employees, processes, programs, and policies are aligned and optimized to achieve company goals. The HR Generalist carries out the responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, HR data analysis, benefits, compliance, and performance management.
Responsibilities
- Administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management;.
- Provides Human Resource policy and procedure guidance to employees and management.
- Full-cycle payroll processing handling bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls for multiple states, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Set up accounts in new states and ensure correct employee tax coding and manage year-end updates
- Respond to employees with any questions and needs regarding company policies, health benefits, 401(k) etc.
- Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries and processes all changes.
- Coordinates open enrollments, changes, and training for employee benefits programs.
- Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
- Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA.
- Maintain new hire and employee personnel records and ensure HR systems are updated with all new and updated changes.
- Identifies and diagnoses improvement opportunities for the HR department.
- Coaches managers in managing performance and conducting difficult conversations.
- Conduct exit interviews and recommend corrections.
Competencies And Qualifications
Must-Have
- 510+ years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in an HR Generalist role, with specialized experience in U.S. payroll and multi-state tax compliance, emphasizing practical application.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Hands-on experience with federal and state payroll regulations, filings, and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of diverse employee classifications, including exempt, non-exempt, day-rate, and commission-based payroll scenarios.
- Experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., Paycom, Dayforce, Paylocity, and others).
- Solid understanding of FLSA classifications.
- Strong knowledge of HR policies and procedures.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong vocabulary, grammar, and the ability to independently compose routine written communications.
- Ability to prepare accurate, effective, and clearly written communications and reports.
- High level of interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to company policies, laws, and regulations.
- Highly dependable with strong attendance, flexibility to adjust work schedules, and willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong planning, time management, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively as a team player.
Nice to Have
- A bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field, or extensive prior experience in human resources or additional specialized training or coursework in human resources and labor law preferred.
