As Heavy Equipment (HE) Operator , you will facilitate safe, reliable, and efficient coal yard operations, coal storing, reclaiming, and coal unloading from delivery ships and contribute directly to transforming energy for a better world. As Heavy Equipment (HE) Operator , you will facilitate safe, reliable, and efficient coal yard operations, coal storing, reclaiming, and coal unloading from delivery ships and contribute directly to transforming energy for a better world. You will work closely with the Coal Handling Supervisor, Operations & Maintenance Departments, CSU, and Delivery Ship Personnel to deliver results, create positive community impact, and develop your skills in a supportive, purpose-driven environment.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be
- Operate heavy equipment (e.g., payloader, skid loader, forklift, manlift), Stacker/Reclaimer, and Ship Unloader in accordance with standard operating procedures and equipment specifications .
- Coordinate coal storing, reclaiming, and blending activities following First-In-First-Out (FIFO) schedules, and communicate with SCADA Operators during coal handling and forwarding operations .
- Monitor, record, and evaluate equipment operating parameters, coal temperatures (to mitigate hotspots or spontaneous combustion), and submit regular operational logs and status reports .
- Inspect, maintain, clean, and troubleshoot heavy equipment, while coordinating with the Maintenance Department for corrective and preventive maintenance to prevent coal dust accumulation and fire hazards .
- Prioritizes safety, health, environmental compliance, and proper housekeeping to prevent accidents and maintain high operational standards .
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail in monitoring equipment parameters, keeping records, and detecting operational deviations .
- Possesses effective communication and collaborative skills to build strong partnerships with internal teams and external ship delivery personnel .
- Displays proactive problem-solving abilities, high dependability during shift turnovers, and strict adherence to organizational management systems (ISO standards) .
Education & Experience:
- Vocational degree in Automotive Technology
- At least 2 years of experience in the operation of coal-handling equipment
- Certified NC2 Heavy Equipment Operator or NC2 Overhead Crane (Unloader); 6 months of training in the operation and maintenance of a Stacker/Reclaimer or Unloader
