The Billing Assistant, under the supervision of the Billing Manager, plays a critical role in managing front-line billing operations and accounts receivable follow-up. Primary responsibilities include verifying client benefit coverage and eligibility for ABA and Speech services, as well as managing the end-to-end authorization process through submissions and proactive follow-ups. Additionally, the role serves as a key liaison between clients and insurance providers to resolve payment and coverage issues, troubleshoot claim processing, and diagnose inaccuracies to ensure timely billing corrections across internal departments.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Medical Terminology: Familiarity with medical terminology, including ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes.
- Technology Literacy: Proficiency with computer-based applications used for phone, email, and other forms of communication.
- Insurance & Healthcare Systems: Experience navigating insurance provider portals, Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Electronic Health Records (EHR), and electronic billing software.
- CRM Systems: Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms.
- Professional Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with clients, insurance providers, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze issues, identify solutions, and make sound decisions in a timely manner.
