Head of Legal & Contracts, Philippines (Renewable Energy Experience Required)
A fast-growing renewable energy developer is seeking a Head of Legal & Contracts to lead all commercial, contractual, and compliance activities across its project portfolio. This is a senior leadership role overseeing end-to-end contract lifecycle management right from bid stage, negotiation, execution, to project delivery, ensuring the business is protected, compliant, and commercially optimised.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Strategy & Governance
- Lead the full contract lifecycle for development, EPC, OEM, O&M, supply chain, land acquisition, and partnership agreements
- Establish and maintain policies, frameworks, and templates for all commercial contracts
- Ensure contracts are aligned with local regulations, permitting, and renewable-sector compliance requirements
Negotiation & Commercial Management
- Drive negotiation strategies with EPCs, contractors, suppliers, and service providers
- Anticipate commercial risks and structure terms that safeguard the business
- Review, assess, and negotiate claims, variations, and dispute resolutions
Project Support & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with development, engineering, legal, finance, and project delivery teams
- Support bid submissions, RFPs, and government/utility procurement processes
- Advise leadership on contract risk exposure and mitigation strategies
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years in contract management within the renewable energy industry (solar, wind, BESS, or hybrid systems)
- Deep experience with EPC, O&M, supply, and development contracts for utility-scale projects
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record managing contractors in PH or APAC
- Solid understanding of project development cycles, permitting, and regulatory frameworks in the Philippines
- Leadership experience; able to build and scale contract governance processes
