Head of Financial Reporting

Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

A leading organisation operating across telecommunications, technology and digital services is seeking an experienced Head of Financial Reporting to lead its financial reporting function and ensure the integrity, accuracy and compliance of financial information across the business.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a technically strong finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, commercially focused environment. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will oversee the financial accounting team, lead month-end and year-end reporting, drive continuous improvement, and partner with senior stakeholders to support informed business decisions.

The role also has responsibility for strengthening financial controls, managing statutory compliance, and leading relationships with internal and external auditors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting process.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
  • Oversee general ledger integrity, balance sheet reconciliations and financial close activities.
  • Manage statutory reporting, tax compliance and external audit processes.
  • Develop and enhance financial controls, governance frameworks and risk management practices.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance to senior management on complex financial matters.
  • Drive process improvements and finance transformation initiatives to improve efficiency and reporting quality.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing financial accounting team.

About You

To be successful, you will bring:

  • CPA or CA qualification with 8+ years experience in financial reporting or financial accounting.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Experience leading financial reporting within a large, complex organisation.
  • Proven experience managing audits, taxation and internal controls.
  • Advanced analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with enterprise financial systems such as SAP, Hyperion, Great Plains or similar ERP platforms.
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence stakeholders across the business.
