About the Company

The position will be responsible for providing the complete and essential FP&A support across the group of companies of Sun Life of Canada (Philippines). This includes leading the FP&A function, leading expenses, ensuring value is delivered as part of initiative spend and helping direct finance transformation. This role will report to the Philippines CFO and will be a high profile position within the Philippines Business Unit as well as within the Asia finance organization with exposure to Asia finance leadership.

About the Role

Major Accountabilities The main duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:

Responsibilities

  • Provide business support to the Chief Financial Officer on FP&A, initiative spend value analysis, leading expense management team/function and helping enable finance transformation
  • The role will be responsible for leading monthly/quarterly forecast, monthly business review support for Philippines leadership presented to Asia leadership, annual business plan and the financial components of the Strategic Plan
  • Partner with Business Development and Project Management teams to provide operational business support from a finance perspective for projects and initiatives across the various entities and departments.
  • Manage all expense lines across entities to align with business growth, and ensure compliance to company guidelines. This entails day to day monitoring, working with the various units on their initiatives, and ensuring proper monitoring are in place.
  • It also involves providing business units with the proper recommendations and advice on managing their expenses and budgets according to expense policies and appropriate for the company.

Qualifications

  • Education Bachelor degree.
  • CPA, CFA or actuarial background.

Required Skills

  • Experience in leading a team in financial planning and analysis and expense analysis as well as benefit if you have finance transformation experience and initiative spend value analysis experience
  • Has adequate knowledge and exposure in financial reporting both for internal management and external reporting
  • Preference for individuals with insurance industry experience
  • Self starter with an ability to drive execution and autonomously deliver results
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to think strategically
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work under limited supervision and meet deadlines
  • Has a good grasp of internal operating controls

Preferred Skills

  • 10 – 15 years related experience ideally across a range of FP&A, financial reporting, finance transformation and expense analysis with 5 years in a managerial capacity.
