Job Description

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity to join a leading financial services organisation as a Head of Engineering and help shape the engineering standards, capability, and delivery performance across exciting, business-critical products.

This is a senior leadership role with visibility across the technology organisation, responsible for driving engineering excellence, uplifting team capability, and ensuring strong execution across multi-disciplinary squads. You will partner closely with business and technology stakeholders to support strategy, delivery, and continuous improvement across the domain.

Only candidates based in, or willing to relocate to, Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, Vietnam will be considered.

What you will do:

  • Provide leadership across a technology domain and help ensure successful delivery of key initiatives.
  • Support and develop technical leaders and engineers to build a capable, collaborative, and high-performing team.
  • Drive delivery outcomes by improving efficiency, quality, and execution discipline.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to align delivery priorities with strategic objectives.
  • Manage cross-functional teams and help resolve issues that affect delivery progress.
  • Contribute to planning, resourcing, and financial management to support effective execution.
  • Help create a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and strong performance.

What you will need:

  • Background in leading engineering or technology delivery in complex organisations.
  • Experience building, leading, and managing teams of 50+ engineers in a high-complexity environment.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and build strong working relationships.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Commercial understanding, sound judgment, and a practical approach to solving problems.
  • Experience with capacity planning, forecasting, and team/resource management.
  • A proven ability to improve team performance and build capability over time.

Must have:

  • Strong leadership experience in engineering, platform, or software delivery roles.
  • Track record of delivering within complex, matrixed, or regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated experience working with agile teams and cross-functional delivery models.
  • Ability to balance technical ambition with commercial and risk considerations.
  • A people-first leadership style with a genuine focus on building high-performing teams.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in banking, fintech, or large-scale enterprise technology environments.
  • Exposure to multi-region delivery and vendor management.
  • Background in modern engineering practices, CI/CD, and delivery optimisation.
  • Experience leading product or platform teams with strong business partnership.
  • Prior experience in organisations with strong governance, planning, and operating discipline.
