Head of Boarding
Full time | Permanent |Commencing Term 3, 2026
Reporting to the Deputy Principal / Head of Senior School, the Head of Boarding is responsible for the overall wellbeing, pastoral care, and day-to-day life of all boarding students. This full-time, permanent position commences in Term 3, 2026 and includes family-sized onsite accommodation.
This pivotal leadership role focuses on fostering a culture in which every boarder is known, valued, and supported as an individual. The successful candidate will promote a strong sense of belonging, support personal growth, and uphold high standards of care, conduct, and engagement across the boarding community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership of the boarding house, ensuring the highest standards of student wellbeing, pastoral care, and safety.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and well-structured boarding environment.
- Lead, mentor, and support the boarding team to ensure effective and consistent day-to-day operations.
- Act as a visible and positive role model for students and staff.
- Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with parents/carers and school staff.
- Ensure compliance with all safeguarding requirements and relevant boarding standards.
- Oversee student routines, co-curricular activities, and all aspects of boarding life.
- Contribute to the School's strategic direction and the ongoing development of the boarding program.
To be successful in this role:
- Bring proven leadership experience in a boarding, school, or residential care setting.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of student wellbeing, safeguarding, and duty of care.
- Build positive, respectful relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Communicate effectively and manage competing priorities with strong organisational skills.
- Lead and develop staff, fostering a cohesive and high-performing team.
- Exercise sound judgement and remain calm and professional in complex situations.
- Manage the operational demands of a dynamic boarding environment.
- Support and uphold the Anglican ethos and values of the School.
