About the role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head Nurse - Surgery Suite to join our esteemed team at The Medical City. This is a full-time position based at our state-of-the-art facility in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga. As Head Nurse for the Surgery Suite, you will play a crucial leadership role in overseeing all nursing operations within our surgical department. This position is pivotal to ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care, maintaining the highest standards of surgical nursing practice, and leading a multidisciplinary nursing team. You will be responsible for creating a culture of excellence, safety, and professional development whilst supporting the strategic objectives of The Medical City's surgical services.

Key responsibilities

  1. Oversee all nursing operations within the Surgery Suite, including staff scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow management to ensure optimal patient care delivery
  2. Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to nursing staff, ensuring adherence to best practices, protocols, and evidence-based surgical nursing standards
  3. Monitor and maintain compliance with infection control procedures, safety protocols, and accreditation requirements specific to surgical environments
  4. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support the professional development and training of nursing team members
  5. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate seamless surgical procedures and optimal patient outcomes
  6. Manage patient flow, surgical schedules, and coordination of pre-operative and post-operative care activities
  7. Investigate and address patient safety incidents, near misses, and complaints, implementing corrective actions as necessary
  8. Maintain comprehensive documentation, records, and data related to surgical nursing activities and patient care metrics
  9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the continuous enhancement of surgical nursing services
  10. Ensure appropriate stock management, equipment maintenance, and sterilization protocols within the Surgery Suite
  11. Act as a liaison between surgical nursing staff and hospital administration on matters of clinical concern or operational challenges

What we're looking for

  1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent nursing qualification recognized by the appropriate regulatory body
  2. Current and valid nursing licensure and registration with relevant professional nursing regulatory authorities
  3. Minimum of 5 years experience as a registered nurse, with substantial experience specifically in surgical nursing or operating theatre environments
  4. Proven leadership and management experience, ideally in a supervisory or head nurse capacity within a healthcare setting
  5. Advanced knowledge of surgical procedures, perioperative nursing care, and anesthesia principles
  6. Comprehensive understanding of infection control, sterile techniques, and patient safety protocols in surgical settings
  7. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills with the ability to make sound decisions in high-pressure environments
  8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team
  9. Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent emergency care qualification
  10. Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with advances in surgical nursing practice
  11. Experience in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, or healthcare accreditation processes is highly desirable
  12. Proficiency in hospital information systems and electronic health records is advantageous
