The main purpose of the Customs Broker role is to prepare and execute customs clearance declarations on behalf of internal stakeholders within the Kuehne + Nagel network.
The declarations should also be compliant with both customer instructions and government regulations and processed in a timely manner.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Customs Broker to create documentation and ensure the seamless importation of goods. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of customs regulations and excellent task orientation skills.
How you create impact
- Prepare and execute import and export declarations according to customs regulations, laws, and procedures within the stakeholder country
- Creation of transit documentation as required
- Ensuring that customs clearance instructions provided are adhered to accurately
- Use customs systems provided to calculate and process duties, taxes, and other customs related charges
- Confirming classification given is accurate for commodity being imported or exported
- Advise stakeholders of possible import and export restrictions
- Advise stakeholders of preferential tariff, quotas, and other regimes available for the customer
- Advise stakeholders of any issues or challenges relating to the smooth processing of a declaration
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with government regulations
- Keeping up to date with trends and changes in laws and regulations within stakeholder country
- To request or compile necessary supporting documentation for customs activities such as Certificates of Origin, Health Certificates etc
- To provide excellent customer service by communicating the status of declarations in the customs clearance process promptly
What we would like you to bring
- Bachelor of Science in Customs Administration
- Knowledge of Harmonised Tariff Schedule
- Knowledge of WCO Customs Import and Export Regulations
- Knowledge of incoterms
- Fluency in English -both Verbal & Written
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
- At least 3 years experience in a similar position in the past
- Preferable to have operational knowledge of either airfreight, sea freight or road freight
