Google Cloud Developer & Architect

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Google Cloud Developer & Architect to lead cloud technology delivery, architecture, and operational excellence within our Digital Operations – Technology team.

The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), cloud architecture, service delivery, program/project management, and people leadership. This role will be responsible for driving end-to-end GCP engagements, ensuring SLA and KPI adherence, leading distributed teams, managing client relationships, and delivering scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Lead the design, development, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of GCP cloud environments and solutions.
• Leverage hands-on GCP Developer/Architect experience to guide and validate technical and architectural decisions.
• Evaluate engineering designs for new cloud environment builds and major changes, ensuring quality, security, and risk readiness before go-live.
• Translate Google Cloud best practices and recommendations into solutions aligned with customer requirements.
• Guide solution trade-offs and act as the senior escalation point for complex technical decisions.
• Drive automation, DevOps adoption, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to improve service reliability, efficiency, and scalability.
• Oversee Big Data solution delivery using GCP services such as Dataproc, Dataflow, Composer, BigQuery, and Google Cloud Storage.

Service Delivery & Operations

• Own end-to-end service delivery for GCP engagements, ensuring adherence to SLAs, KPIs, and customer commitments.
• Drive service operations, incident management, problem management, change management, and release management in line with ITIL practices.
• Establish and maintain governance rhythms, including SLA/KPI reviews, steering committee updates, risk registers, and escalation management.
• Monitor delivery health, operational performance, service metrics, and business outcomes.
• Identify and implement improvements in delivery processes, tools, architecture, and service quality.
• Ensure industry-standard security and compliance practices are implemented and audited throughout the engagement lifecycle.

People & Resource Management

• Lead, mentor, and performance-manage Cloud Developers, Architects, and Engineers.
• Own hiring, team development, career progression, and succession planning.
• Drive resource planning, capacity forecasting, staffing plans, and workforce optimization.
• Build and grow high-performing, distributed, cross-functional teams across geographies.
• Promote knowledge sharing, reusable assets, and best-practice adoption across teams and accounts.

Client & Commercial Management

• Act as the primary relationship owner for assigned client accounts.
• Build strong relationships with client leadership, manage expectations, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Partner with pre-sales and solutioning teams on proposals, staffing plans, pricing, and commercial constructs.
• Own budget, P&L, and cost management for the delivery unit or account.
• Identify opportunities for account growth and expanded service scope.
• Present delivery performance, risks, governance updates, and business outcomes to senior leadership.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Graduate/Postgraduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• 6–10 years of overall IT experience, including at least 5 years in cloud service delivery, program/project management, or cloud practice leadership.
• Strong experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP); Firebase and multi-cloud awareness are added advantages.
• Prior hands-on experience as a GCP Developer or Architect, with the technical depth to guide and validate team decisions.
• Strong knowledge of Python, JavaScript, SQL, and BigQuery for technical oversight and solutioning.
• Understanding of Data Science, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence sufficient to guide client solutioning discussions.
• In-depth knowledge of key GCP services and cloud technologies.
• Experience overseeing Big Data solution delivery and workflow monitoring in distributed computing environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture, engineering, automation, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Working knowledge of ITIL/service delivery frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience managing SLAs, KPIs, service metrics, governance cadences, and escalations.
• Experience in resource/capacity planning, staffing forecasts, and budget/P&L ownership.
• Experience with reporting and analytics tools such as Tableau, Bigtable, Looker Studio (formerly Data Studio), and analytics dashboards.
• Proven track record of leading distributed, cross-geography, and cross-functional teams.
• Certifications such as PMP, ITIL, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, or equivalent are highly desirable.
