The Fund Accounting Team Lead oversees daily fund accounting operations, team management, and process improvement initiatives to ensure accurate fund reporting, operational efficiency, and excellent client service. The role works closely with internal stakeholders and clients while supporting the overall performance and development of the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Fund Accounting Operations
- Oversee the preparation and review of NAV calculations, financial statements, investor reports, and other fund accounting deliverables
- Ensure accuracy and timely completion of daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements
- Monitor fund activities including subscriptions, redemptions, capital calls, distributions, and reconciliations
- Coordinate with clients, auditors, custodians, and other stakeholders regarding fund-related matters
- Support onboarding and transition of new funds and clients
- Process Improvement & Controls
- Identify process gaps and recommend operational improvements and automation initiatives
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements
- Assist in system enhancements, testing, and process documentation initiatives
- Monitor team productivity and ensure service delivery standards are met
Team Management
- Lead, coach, and support Fund Accountants and Senior Fund Accountants in day-to-day operations
- Manage workload allocation, scheduling, and team performance
- Conduct training, mentoring, and performance evaluations
- Partner with management and HR on staffing and resource planning
- Address operational, attendance, and performance-related concerns as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy
- CPA designation is an advantage
- Proven experience in Fund Accounting, Hedge Funds, Private Equity, or related financial services
- Strong understanding of NAV calculation, financial reporting, and fund operations
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience using fund accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
- Willing to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
