Full Stack Java Developer

Job Summary:

The Full Stack Web Developer building and maintaining public facing products for use by the general public and b2b. The candidate will have good knowledge of Java and web technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript. A development focused degree or significant previous experience with development methodologies and best practices is mandatory. A reasonable knowledge of the Australian Superannuation domain and/or exposure to basic accounting is desirable but not mandatory.

Accountabilities & Deliverables:

• Develop and maintain software programs in accordance with programming specifications. This includes (but is not limited to): o Strong Java development skills o HTML, CSS/SASS and JavaScript development (React) o TypeScript experience is preferred
• Liaise with Business Analysts, Development and Quality Assurance team members to clarify technical requirements and implement the required functionality.
• Assist with troubleshooting and diagnosis of issues and defects within the scope of Acurity functionality.
• Provide client support to address specific client needs
• Work independently and be self-sufficient, whilst having the skills to work collaboratively with business representatives, development and quality assurance team members.
• Be flexible and responsive to fulfilling other duties as required.
• Contribute to IRESS's continual drive for Process Improvement
• Participate in reviews of functionality from a technical and security perspective.

Key Competencies:

At least 4+ years of working experience of:

- Java

- HTML

- CSS/SASS

- JavaScript (TypeScript experience highly preferable).

- CSS libraries (Like Bootstrap)

- JavaScript libraries

Experience with Accessibility, Responsive design, Source control (e.g. GIT)

Experience with unit testing and unit testing frameworks

Practical knowledge of Java based web server technology

Strong analytical, problem solving skill and high attention to detail

Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies as required

Ability to build solid working relationships with internal staff and clients

Demonstrate initiative and be proactive

The ability to work autonomously and be self-motivated to meet deadlines.

Good time management, organisational and prioritisation skills

A can do attitude and be able to apply a methodical approach to problem solving

Good written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work within both Agile and waterfall based methodologies
