Job Description

The Full Stack Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining both front-end and back-end components of the UtilityTrack platform. The developer will work closely with the Technical Lead to ensure seamless integration and delivery of features that meet business and user needs.

This role will contribute to the evolution of UtilityTrack, supporting data management of asset inspection and condition data. This involves a variety of features including works management, systems integration, GIS mapping, statistics, user workflows, and asset management.

Key Tasks And Accountabilities

  • Develop and Maintain Serverless Applications

Build scalable backend services using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, and S3.

Implement event-driven workflows.

  • Rewrite and Refactor Legacy Functions

Analyse existing codebases and refactor functions for performance, maintainability, and cloud-native compatibility.

Migrate monolithic logic into modular serverless components.

  • Work Through Backlog of Tasks

Collaborate with tech lead to prioritise and execute tasks from the development backlog.

Ensure timely delivery of features and bug fixes aligned with sprint goals.

  • Build and Enhance Front-End Interfaces

Develop responsive and intuitive UIs using React.

Integrate front-end components with serverless APIs and authentication flows.

  • Implement CI/CD Pipelines

Maintain automated deployment pipelines using SST, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.

Ensure smooth integration and delivery of code across environments.

  • Monitor and Optimize Performance

Use AWS CloudWatch, X-Ray, and other observability tools to monitor application health and performance.

Identify and resolve bottlenecks in both front-end and backend systems.

  • Ensure Security and Compliance

Support compliance with internal and external data protection standards.

  • Collaborate Across Teams

Communicate effectively with stakeholders to clarify requirements and share progress.

  • Document Technical Work

Maintain clear documentation for APIs, workflows, and architectural decisions.

Contribute to internal knowledge bases and onboarding materials.

Qualification And Requirements

The following qualifications are highly desirable for this role, though not strictly mandatorycandidates with equivalent experience or demonstrable skills are encouraged to apply.

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.

AWS certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Developer Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are highly desirable.

Expert-level experience working within the AWS ecosystem, including designing, deploying and operating cloud native applications.

Strong software engineering fundamentals including design patterns, testing methodologies, and version control (Git).

Extensive experience with NodeJS and React, with strong proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript.

Experience working with modern CI/CD pipelines using SST, GitHub Actions, and AWS Amplify.

Strong understanding of cloud security, IAM, authentication and secure API design.

Skills

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in Agile teams and contribute to sprint planning and retrospectives.

  • 3+ years professional experience developing and supporting production-grade web applications.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining serverless and cloud native applications on AWS.
  • Hands-on experience with the following AWS services is essential:
  • DynamoDB
  • RDS
  • SNS
  • SQS
  • API Gateway
  • Lambda
  • EC2
  • S3
  • MediaConvert
  • Amplify
  • Cognito
  • Experience integrating authentication and identity services, including Azure Entra ID, is highly regarded.
  • Strong experience developing front-end applications using React.
  • Proven experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and event driven architectures.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines using SST for backend services, GitHub Actions for deployment, and AWS Amplify for frontend delivery.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform is advantageous
