Role Description This is a full-time remote role based in the Philippines for Freelance Medical and Legal Interpreters (Tagalog). The interpreter will provide accurate, confidential, and culturally sensitive Tagalog–English interpretation for medical and legal settings, including consultations, hearings, interviews, and documentation review. Daily tasks include performing consecutive and, when required, simultaneous interpretation, ensuring correct use of medical and legal terminology, and supporting clear communication between clients, professionals, and service users. The role also involves preparing for assignments by reviewing relevant materials, maintaining detailed records of sessions as required, and adhering to professional codes of ethics and confidentiality. Interpreters will collaborate with project coordinators and other language professionals to meet quality and service standards.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Interpreting and Simultaneous Interpretation for Tagalog–English communication.
- Candidates should possess Medical Interpretation and Medical Terminology skills to support accurate communication in healthcare settings.
- Candidates should possess Translation skills for written Tagalog–English documents when needed.
- Fluency in Tagalog and English, with excellent listening, speaking, and comprehension abilities.
- Previous experience in medical and/or legal interpreting, preferably in remote or call-based environments.
- Knowledge of legal concepts and procedures and familiarity with confidentiality and data protection requirements.
- Strong ethical judgment, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to remain neutral and professional in all interactions.
- Reliable internet connection, suitable remote work setup, and comfort using online communication platforms and tools.
- Relevant certifications in medical or legal interpreting, or completion of interpreter training programs, are an advantage.
- Ability to manage time effectively, handle multiple assignments, and work independently with minimal supervision.
