ARTDIRECTOR 

JobDescription and Responsibilities 

 

 

Description: The ArtDirector is responsible for generating visual concepts in response to clients briefs. This covers all media platforms, including digital communications, websites, mobile apps and emails, marketing materials, press advertising, television and video, logos and branding. Being able to present and sell creative work is essential for success.  

 

Comfortable and confident in their expertise in visual communication, and willing to help less experienced members of staff to improve creative skills, always ready to rise to any challenging brief with a keen eye for detail, and a drive to deliver visually appealing and stimulating materials.  

 

This role requires complete self-assurance, as the artdirectors work influences consumers by delivering a clear message, as well as using their initiative to seek out current trends and incorporate them into campaigns effectively. 

 

Working alongside copywriters, designers, other cross functional teams, account management or project teams, must be keen team players and self-sufficient multi-taskers, full of original approaches and innovative ideas. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Must be able to sketch and draw key visuals, storyboards and other layouts based on their ideas and concepts. 
  • Producing and applying art direction to the visual elements of creative projects 
  • Ensuring a high standard of visual execution across all media and campaigns  
  • Generate a reliable supply of original ideas and visual concepts 
  • Inspiring and motivating the agency's clients to be creatively progressive, through the application of fresh and inventive visual work 
  • Understanding marketing initiatives, strategic positioning and target audience 
  • Be flexible in a creative approach and willing to adapt your ideas to the needs of clients 
  • Be innovative and channel agnostic in the ways in which advertising is carried 
  • Taking ownership of the visual elements of creative work for new business pitches and the confidence to explain and support your thinking, both internally and externally 
  • Uncovering new ways to incorporate emerging and new media formats into campaigns. 
  • Work closely and effectively with copywriters and other members of the creative team to ensure quality of overall output, which includes checking strategic alignment, executional mandatories, production feasibilities, copy correctness.
