Job Description

Role Overview

The Fraud Monitoring / Analyst role supports the Optum Financial Consumer Fraud Team and serves as a first line of defense in identifying and responding to suspicious member and transaction activity. The analyst will provide active monitoring, conduct investigations, support disputes and ATO cases, and escalate risks in real time to ensure fraud exposure is contained.

This role is designed for independent execution, particularly during off hour or weekend coverage, while operating within clearly defined escalation and governance frameworks.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor real time dashboards for suspicious activity and fraud indicators
  • Investigate alerts and determine legitimacy of transactions
  • Conduct transaction dispute investigations
  • Handle ATO case investigations and document findings for handoff and escalation
  • Escalate potential fraud risks to Fraud Leadership in a timely manner
  • Prepare monitoring summaries, trends, and call outs as needed
  • Maintain accurate, audit ready documentation for all cases

Job Qualifications:

Core Qualifications & Experience

  • 1–2 years of fraud-related experience, preferably in:
  • Transaction monitoring
  • Payments or card services
  • Dispute case management
  • ATO (Account Takeover) investigation
  • At least 1 year in an operational monitoring environment, involving real time dashboards, alerts, or queue based work
  • 2+ years working independently with minimal supervision, making judgment based decisions within defined controls

Preferred Background

  • Experience in financial services, payments, or consumer fraud operations
  • Exposure to 24x7 or non standard shift environments
  • Familiarity with escalations, SLAs, and documentation requirements in regulated environments

Required Skills & Attributes

  • Strong analytical skills to identify unusual patterns, trends, and anomalies
  • High attention to detail and documentation discipline
  • Sound risk judgment, knowing when to act vs when to escalate
  • Comfortable working with:
  • Dashboards and alerting tools
  • Case or dispute management workflows
  • Clear written communication for:
  • Investigation summaries
  • Trend reporting
  • Executive or leadership call outs
