Job Description

About Octocom

We are building the AI customer support layer for e-commerce.

Every day, support teams spend thousands of hours answering the same questions: Where is my order How do I return this Which product should I choose Can I change my delivery address

That work no longer needs to be manual.

Our AI handles these interactions independently across chat, email, and phone — from order tracking and returns to product guidance, delivery questions, and order changes. This gives companies faster response times, lower support workload, and a better customer experience.

In 2025, we grew more than 10x. We are now on track to reach $5M+ in 2026, with much bigger ambitions beyond that.

We move fast, take ownership, and keep things direct: few meetings, no politics, clear responsibility, and honest feedback.

Your Role

We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with our customers and make Octocom successful in complex real-world environments.

This is a highly hands-on role at the intersection of engineering, product, and customers.

You will take newly signed customers from requirements to a working production deployment. That means understanding their support operations, integrating Octocom with their systems, building custom workflows and integrations when needed, debugging technical issues, and continuously improving how well the AI performs.

You will not simply hand requirements to another engineering team. You should be comfortable getting into the code, APIs, logs, data, and infrastructure yourself and solving problems end to end.

Your job is ultimately simple: make sure the customer gets the outcome we promised.

What to expect

  • You will own technical implementation and deployment for new and existing customers.
  • You will work directly with customers to understand their systems, processes, data, and requirements.
  • You will integrate Octocom with e-commerce platforms, help desks, CRMs, APIs, internal systems, and other third-party tools.
  • You will build custom integrations, scripts, automations, and workflows when an out-of-the-box solution is not enough.
  • You will configure and improve AI workflows across order tracking, returns, delivery questions, product recommendations, order changes, FAQs, handoffs, ticket automation, and other customer-specific use cases.
  • You will investigate and resolve technical issues across chat, email, phone, APIs, webhooks, and integrations.
  • You will analyze AI performance and identify ways to increase automation rates, accuracy, reliability, and overall customer outcomes.
  • You will work closely with the founders and engineering team to turn customer-specific problems into scalable product improvements.
  • You will communicate directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and keep projects moving without unnecessary process or meetings.

Who We're Looking For

The most important thing is that you are ambitious, hungry to learn, and willing to take ownership. You should want a lot of responsibility and be comfortable figuring things out without being given a detailed playbook.

  • You have strong software engineering fundamentals and are comfortable writing production-quality code.
  • You are comfortable working with APIs, webhooks, databases, logs, authentication, integrations, and debugging distributed systems.
  • You can quickly understand unfamiliar technical systems and find practical ways to integrate with them.
  • You are comfortable working directly with customers and can explain technical topics clearly to both engineers and business stakeholders.
  • You think in terms of outcomes rather than tickets. If something is preventing a customer from succeeding, you take ownership until it is solved.
  • You are pragmatic. You know when to build something properly into the product and when a lightweight script or custom solution is the fastest path to solving the customer's problem.
  • You are comfortable working independently in a fast-moving remote environment with limited structure.
  • You have strong attention to detail and care about reliability, because small technical mistakes can directly impact thousands of customer conversations.
  • You are interested in AI, automation, e-commerce, and building products that replace large amounts of repetitive operational work.

Nice to have

  • Experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Software Engineer, Implementation Engineer, Solutions Architect, or founding engineer.
  • Experience working in a startup where you had to operate across engineering, product, and customers.
  • Experience with Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience designing and integrating REST APIs, webhooks, databases, and third-party systems.
  • Experience with Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, Zendesk, Gorgias, Freshdesk, Intercom, or other e-commerce and customer-support platforms.
  • Experience working with LLMs, AI agents, prompt engineering, retrieval systems, or AI automation.
  • Experience owning enterprise implementations or technically complex customer deployments.

Compensation

This is a full-time remote role based in the Philippines.

Salary: $2,700–$4,500/month, depending on experience and technical ability.

For exceptional candidates, we are open to discussing a higher package.

This is not intended to be a narrow implementation or support role. As Octocom grows, you can take significant ownership across enterprise deployments, engineering, product, integrations, and customer architecture.

Why join Octocom

  1. We are an AI-first company. You will not only build with AI agents, LLMs, automation, integrations, and real production systems — you will also use AI heavily in your own work every day, including tools like Claude Code, Codex, and other cutting-edge developer tools. You will learn how to use AI practically to code faster, debug better, automate repetitive work, and solve problems that would normally take much longer. That experience will make you dramatically more effective as an engineer and much more valuable as AI becomes a core part of how modern software is built.
  2. You will learn extremely fast. We are a small, ambitious startup, so you will be exposed to engineering, product, customers, integrations, infrastructure, and business decisions instead of being limited to one narrow area. Six months here can give you the kind of experience that might take years to get at a larger company.
  3. You will have significantly more ownership than in a typical engineering role. If something needs to be built, fixed, improved, or figured out, you will have the freedom to make it happen.
  4. We reward exceptional performance. If you consistently take ownership, go beyond what is expected, and create significant value for the company, your responsibility and compensation will grow with it.

Apply and let's talk.
