Job Summary
The Formworks Design Engineer is responsible for designing safe, efficient, and cost-effective formwork, falsework, and shoring systems that support construction projects while meeting structural, safety, and project requirements. The role works closely with the Sales Engineers, Project Engineers, and Operations team to develop engineering solutions, prepare detailed design calculations and drawings, and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
The ideal candidate possesses strong structural engineering knowledge, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to develop practical engineering solutions that optimize construction efficiency while ensuring compliance with applicable engineering standards and safety regulations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Formwork Design & Engineering
- Design formwork, falsework, shoring, and scaffolding systems for residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
- Perform structural analysis and engineering calculations to ensure the safety, stability, and structural integrity of proposed formwork systems.
- Prepare engineering layouts, assembly drawings, shop drawings, erection details, and material take-offs.
- Review project plans, specifications, and construction schedules to develop appropriate formwork solutions.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering codes, company standards, and project requirements.
Technical Support
- Collaborate with Sales Engineers in developing technical solutions that address client requirements and project challenges.
- Provide technical recommendations during client presentations, project meetings, and design reviews.
- Assist in evaluating project feasibility, constructability, and engineering alternatives.
- Respond to technical inquiries from clients, contractors, consultants, and project teams.
- Provide engineering support during project implementation and resolve field-related design concerns when necessary.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with Sales, Operations, Procurement, Production, and Logistics to ensure timely delivery of engineering requirements.
- Monitor project timelines to ensure design deliverables are completed according to schedule.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings, coordination meetings, and technical discussions.
- Assist in resolving engineering issues that may impact project execution.
Documentation & Quality Assurance
- Prepare design reports, engineering calculations, bill of materials, and technical documentation.
- Review engineering drawings and calculations for completeness and accuracy before release.
- Maintain organized project documentation and engineering records.
- Ensure all design revisions are properly documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
WHO YOU ARE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Licensed Civil Engineer is preferred.
- At least 2 in structural design, formwork design, temporary works engineering, or construction engineering.
- Experience with commercial, industrial, or infrastructure construction projects is an advantage.
- Knowledge of reinforced concrete construction methods and temporary works design.
- Experience with PERI, Doka, ULMA, MEVA, or similar formwork systems is highly desirable.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Experience with Revit, Tekla Structures, or other BIM software is an advantage.
- Knowledge of structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro, or similar applications is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to interpret structural and architectural drawings.
- Strong understanding of engineering calculations and design principles.
