As a Financial Reporting Accountant, you are a technical authority responsible for the integrity of complex financial disclosures. This role is designed for a high-level professional with a mastery of IFRS who can navigate the nuances of general-purpose financial reporting. You won't just be reconciling accounts; you will be drafting accounting position papers, building sophisticated valuation models, and acting as the strategic lead during external audits for international entities.
Your Impact
General-Purpose Reporting: Prepare comprehensive financial statements that are fully compliant with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). You ensure that all disclosures provide a true and fair view of the entity's financial position.
Technical Accounting Authority: Research and draft accounting position papers on complex transactions. You will provide the technical rationale for accounting treatments, ensuring they withstand the scrutiny of regulatory bodies and auditors.
Complex Financial Modeling: Build and maintain sophisticated supporting workpapers for audit purposes. Your expertise will be critical in developing impairment models, performing derivative calculations, and constructing detailed cash flow models.
Audit Leadership: Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors. You will manage the audit lifecycle, providing the necessary evidence and explanations to ensure a smooth and timely audit finalization.
Strategic Independence: Exercise high levels of initiative to identify reporting risks and proactively suggest process improvements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the reporting cycle.
What You Bring
The Experience: At least 6 to 7 years of progressive experience in financial reporting or external audit. While Australian experience is not required, a proven track record with IFRS is essential.
Technical Mastery: Strong capability in building complex financial models and calculating fair values for financial instruments. You possess the analytical depth to handle high-stakes reporting for international markets (US, South Africa, or NZ experience is a plus).
The Credentials: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics. Being a CPA or CA qualified professional is highly preferred.
The Mindset: A self-motivated individual who can work with high levels of independence and initiative. You possess the communication skills necessary to defend accounting positions to stakeholders and auditors alike.
