Financial Planning and Analysis Officer (Management Information Systems Officer)

Job Summary:

The Financial Planning and Analysis Officer (Management Information Systems Officer) owns the end-to-end production of Finance MIS and management reporting—ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent dashboards, KPI packs, and performance analytics used by Management, ALCO, and the Board. Bridges Finance data (GL/sub-ledger) with operational data to produce actionable insights and controlled, audit-ready reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting & Analytics: Produce daily, weekly, and monthly Finance MIS packs (management dashboards, KPI scorecards, trend analysis, variance explanations).
  • Data Consolidation: Consolidate data from multiple sources, including the General Ledger (GL), core banking sub-ledgers, reconciliation outputs, InstaPay/PesoNet reports, Mastercard reports, deposit/loan systems, and other operational systems.
  • Portfolio & Metric Maintenance: Maintain and improve key reporting sets such as:
  • Liquidity and cash position summaries
  • Deposit and loan portfolio MIS (growth, mix, concentration, aging)
  • Fee and transaction volume dashboards (InstaPay/PesoNet, cards, gateways)
  • Reconciliation and exception MIS (break aging, clearance SLAs, recurring root causes)
  • Regulatory/management KPIs (e.g., CAR, LCR/MLR/NSFR, LDR, NPL)
  • Data Quality & Governance: Perform data quality controls, including reconciliations between MIS outputs and source systems; maintain audit trails, version control, and documented assumptions.
  • Standardization: Build standardized templates and definitions (single source of truth), including metric dictionaries, report logic, mapping tables, and data lineage notes.
  • Month-End Support: Support month-end close by providing MIS schedules, variance packs, and movement analyses (actual vs. budget/forecast).
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate with Finance, Treasury, Risk, and Operations for narrative commentary and drivers behind movements (e.g., spikes in transaction volumes, recon breaks, deposit inflows/outflows).
  • Automation: Automate and streamline reporting processes (using Power Query/Excel automation, Sheets scripts, SQL/BI tools where available).
  • Ad Hoc Analysis: Prepare ad hoc analyses requested by Management (pricing, profitability, product performance, operational loss drivers, partner performance).
  • Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.

Deliverables:

  • Daily cash/settlement dashboards and exception summaries
  • Weekly management performance pack
  • Monthly Board/ALCO-ready MIS pack with commentary
  • Metric dictionary + report SOPs (documentation and controls)

Controls & Governance:

  • Enforces maker-checker review where required (draft vs. final packs).
  • Maintains evidence folders and retention standards for audit/regulatory exams.
  • Ensures confidentiality and controlled access to Finance MIS data.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, Management Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or related field.
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in MIS reporting, FP&A, finance reporting, banking analytics, or BI roles (bank/fintech preferred).
  • Technical Skills: Strong Excel skills (pivots, power functions; Power Query preferred).
  • Domain Knowledge: Working knowledge of financial statements, GL/sub-ledger concepts, and banking KPIs.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and/or SQL.
  • Experience producing ALCO/Board packs or regulatory KPI dashboards.
  • Familiarity with payments data (InstaPay/PesoNet), cards reporting, and reconciliation outputs.

Core Competencies:

  • Detail-Oriented: High attention to detail and strong control mindset.
  • Analytical Storytelling: Ability to translate complex numbers into actionable narrative.
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent stakeholder management and deadline discipline.
  • Process Improvement: Continuous improvement and automation mindset.
