Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead and manage core accounting operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial reporting while maintaining strong internal controls and compliance standards.
The Financial Controller serves as a critical partner to leadership by delivering reliable financial insights, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving operational efficiency across the finance function.
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM | Mountain Time
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and supporting schedules
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (ASPE) and internal policies
Transactional Finance Operations
- Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
- Oversee commission calculations and ensure accurate and timely payouts
- Ensure proper purchase order processes and invoice matching prior to payment
- Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Coordinate the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with leadership
- Monitor and analyze budget variances, providing actionable insights to the VP, Finance
- Manage job costing for products and services to support profitability analysis
- Partner with operational teams to drive cost control and financial discipline
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Ensure audit-ready financial records and compliance with regulatory and tax requirements
- Liaise with external auditors and accounting firms during audits and reviews
- Maintain strict confidentiality and integrity of financial data
People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff
- Set performance expectations and conduct regular evaluations
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes for scalability, efficiency, and accuracy
Qualifications
- CPA or equivalent accounting designation preferred
- Minimum of 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with hands-on operational experience
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and job costing
- Proficiency in accounting systems and financial reporting tools
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities
