Job Overview:
Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of accounting systems and financial reporting across a group of Bahamian entities operating in: • Mining & Manufacturing • Logistics & Distribution • Real Estate Development (Residential & Commercial) • Hospitality (Resort Development) • Property & Facilities Management
This role will be responsible for organizing currently underdeveloped accounting functions, implementing standardized systems and procedures, and building a scalable financial infrastructure

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Financial Systems & Structure
- Design and maintain accounting frameworks for:
- Multi-entity operations
- Multi-industry reporting
- Ensure proper intercompany accounting and eliminations
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Consolidated reporting across entities
- Ensure reports are decision-useful and standardized
- Process Development: Establish SOPs for Month-end close, Revenue recognition, Expense classification, and Inventory tracking
- Improve efficiency and accuracy of accounting processes
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure compliance with Bahamian accounting and tax requirements
- Coordinate with local auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies as needed
- Work with Audit Teams from Bahamian Audit Firm
- Work with Government Reporting to Department of Inland Revenue (DIR) for Business License and Value Added Tax (VAT)
- Team Leadership (Future): Assist in hiring and managing Junior accountants and Sector-specific specialists (mining, development)
- Provide guidance and oversight to offshore accounting staff
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years accounting experience
- Strong experience in:Multi-entity accounting
- Financial statement preparation
- System implementation / cleanup
- Experience designing Chart of Accounts and reporting frameworks
- Experience with cloud accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel, Sage, Microsoft Office etc.)
- Strong organizational and process-building mindset
- Ability to work independently and implement structure
- Strong communication skills with non-financial stakeholders
- Strong ability to create, install, and utilize accounting reporting and control systems.
