Job Description
Everest International Academy, Inc. is seeking an Accounting Supervisor who will be responsible for the overall management of accounting operations, financial reporting, and tax compliance of Everest International Academy (EIA).
This position also provides leadership to the accounting team under a shared services structure, ensuring efficient financial processes, strong internal controls, and alignment with organizational goals and institutional standards.
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting and General Accounting Oversight
- Oversee and review general accounting functions for EIA, including:
- General ledger management
- Journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
- Monthly, quarterly, and annual closing
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of financial statements and management reports
- Review account reconciliations and schedules for accuracy and completeness
- Analyze financial results and provide insights to management
2. Tax Compliance and Regulatory Requirements
- Ensure full compliance with Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) requirements, including:
- Preparation and review of tax returns (e.g., VAT, withholding taxes, income tax, etc.)
- Timely filing and payment of all tax obligations
- Monitor compliance with tax exemption requirements, if applicable
- Oversee preparation of supporting schedules and documentation for tax filings
- Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory agencies
- Ensure readiness for BIR audits and assessments
3. Internal Controls and Process Governance
- Establish and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Ensure proper segregation of duties across AR, AP, and cashiering functions
- Review and approve transactions within authority limits
- Identify risks and implement control improvements to safeguard assets and data
4. Team Leadership and Shared Services Oversight
- Supervise and guide the accounting team, including General Accountants, AP, AR, and Cashier roles
- Allocate workload effectively across entities under the shared services model
- Review outputs of team members to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Provide coaching, training, and performance management
5. Budgeting and Financial Planning Support
- Assist in preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts
- Track actual vs. budget performance and provide variance analysis
- Support management in financial planning and decision-making
6. Audit and Stakeholder Coordination
- Lead the preparation for external and internal audits
- Ensure timely submission of audit requirements and resolution of findings
- Coordinate with school leadership, board, and other stakeholders on financial matters
7. Systems and Process Improvement
- Support implementation and optimization of systems (e.g., LMS, accounting systems, payment platforms)
- Recommend improvements in accounting workflows and reporting processes
- Ensure data integrity across integrated systems
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy
- Advanced Qualifications: A Post Graduate Diploma or Master's Degree is a plus.
- Professional Certification: Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Experience: At least five (5) years of progressive accounting experience, with:
- Strong background in general accounting and financial reporting;
- Proven experience in tax compliance (BIR);
- Supervisory or managerial experience
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Philippine tax regulations and compliance requirements
- Solid understanding of internal controls and audit processes
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Proficient in accounting systems and advanced MS Excel
- Good communication skills for coordination with management and external parties
- Availability: Can start as soon as possible
- Character: Must possess good moral character and a strong work ethic.
