Job Description

Primary DetailsTime Type: Full timeWorker Type: EmployeeBased in Manila or in Cebu, the Associate Manager - Global Tax role, with the oversight and guidance of the GSSC Tax Operations Manager (OM), will ensure that QBE's tax compliance and reporting obligations for the QBE global business and divisions for all applicable taxes and its regulations depending on the tax jurisdiction per country (e.g., Income Tax, indirect taxes, transfer pricing, etc.) and/or implementation and operationalization of global tax reforms. This includes assisting in tax audits and the provision of adhoc tax advisory to the broader QBE business, with particular focus on high complexity and urgent tasks and perform final level tax review role within GSSC, as applicable.The role will also provide recommendations and may be consulted in achieving standardization on various taxation functions and may lead various projects supporting the Global Taxation business, global process ownership including Group tax reporting, process optimisation, automation, sourcing and assurance and implement and operationalize the Group tax control framework globally, develop tax risk reporting of risk tax issues and incidents.

Primary Responsibilities

Global Shift - the Associate Manager will be managing their respective tower within the global tax team across multiple divisions, shift (Australia, UK, and North America), and tax jurisdictions / legislations

  • Process and Service Management - includes managing the day-to-day delivery of the team's services in order to meet the specific and changing needs of the various Divisions globally and the Group.
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Includes maintaining a good working relationship with stakeholders to maximize opportunities, minimize expenses and achieve operational and service targets.
  • Stakeholders include Divisional and Functional Heads of Taxes, and Finance and Tax Executives within QBE Global teams.
  • Also includes partnering with Group and Divisions to ensure transferred tax process is fully documented and operational.
  • People Management - includes:
  • Management of at multiple Staff servicing multiple Divisions and Group with different tax jurisdictions and legislations
  • Support personal and professional development of team by evaluating their performance against agreed objectives with appropriate developmental plan
  • Uphold a strong culture of accountability and high performance whilst maintaining employee motivation and a positive working environment
  • capacity and resource allocation and consistent BAU delivery
  • Responsible for hiring open positions within the team
  • Capacity and Succession Planning - primary responsible in creating a robust capacity management and succession planning, ensuring that the Team Leader's tower are enabled as process experts and continuous quality service delivery.
  • Process Improvement - includes being responsible for driving process optimization and delivering efficiency targets, and identifying and implementing process changes
  • Provide valuable contribution for the resolution of issues and monitor required actions
  • Manage capacity and resource allocation for processes and services to ensure SLA's are met in terms of timeliness and quality, which includes monitoring and reporting of SLA's and KPI's on a regular basis
  • Review or perform as needed highly complex and critical tasks
  • Maintain product, system and process knowledge by ensuring process documentations are updated
  • Support the documentation of process change requirements
  • Ensure compliance with QBE policies, procedures and relevant legislations
  • Contribute to the creation, update and execution of Business Continuity Plan
  • Provide visible management and support by delivering effective and timely communication to the team Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience Required Experience
  • 8 years relevant experience Required Licenses/Certifications
  • CPA, or CMA, or other certifications related to finance field Preferred Competencies/Skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to enable effective communications at all levels within the organization, especially People Leadership and Middle Management
  • Strong attention to details, analytical and complex problem-solving and decision-making capability
  • Strong people management skills
  • High level of initiative and result orientation
  • High proficiency in MS tools
  • Proficiency in Power BI and Alteryx
  • Strong skills in spreadsheets, data analysis, and reconciliation procedures
  • Agile and with strong process excellence and change management skills Preferred Education
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience Preferred Education Specifics
  • Accountancy Preferred Experience
  • Experience in Tax Accounting and Reporting
  • Experience in Insurance or Financial Institution is an advantage
  • Experience in Change Management and Process Efficiencies
  • Experience in Lean and Six Sigma process improvement
  • Experience in Leading a Global Team Preferred Licenses/Certifications
  • CPA, or CMA, or other certifications related to finance field Preferred Knowledge
