Job Summary:
The General Accounting Officer is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, overseeing accounts payable processes and reconciliation of accounts, and ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, management reports, and regulatory filings. The role supports budgeting, forecasting, and internal and regulatory compliance processes, including taxation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage the general ledger, including preparation and posting of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Review account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and balance sheet schedules.
- Oversee accounts payable processes, ensuring proper documentation, approvals, and timely processing of payments.
- Oversee the monitoring of employee advances, including liquidation, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Maintain and reconcile inter-company accounts, ensuring proper recording and timely settlement of transactions.
- Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis of budgets and forecasts.
- Prepare management reports and financial analyses to support decision-making.
- Review tax filings and the related schedules; ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations; and coordinate with tax authorities and external advisors as needed.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and required documentation.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting standards, and company policies.
- Recommend and implement improvements in accounting processes and reporting.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or related field; CPA preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in general accounting, including general ledger, financial reporting, accounts payable, and tax compliance.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, taxation, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficient in accounting systems and advanced Excel. Knowledgeable in Google Workspace applications.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; able to work with cross-functional teams and external parties.
- High integrity and understanding of internal controls.
- Willingness to render extended work hours during peak periods (e.g., month-end, audits, and filing deadlines).
