Finance Manager, Southeast Asia

Position Summary

We are looking for a Finance Manager to oversee the overall finance function across the Southeast Asia region. This role will support overseas power project investment and development activities across the full project lifecycle, including greenfield development, investment, financing, construction, and project exit.

The position will work closely with the regional business teams and HQ finance team to ensure effective financial management, funding support, financial analysis, tax and compliance oversight, and overall commercial support for business decision-making and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Regional Finance Management

  • Oversee the overall finance function across Southeast Asia, including financial operations and controls for project companies in the region
  • Establish and continuously improve regional finance processes, policies, and internal control systems
  • Manage accounting, financial reporting, and finance operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Coordinate between HQ finance requirements and regional business needs to ensure effective implementation of group policies

2. Project Finance Support

  • Support overseas power projects throughout the full lifecycle, including greenfield development, M&A, financing, construction, and divestment
  • Provide financial modeling, cost analysis, cash flow forecasting, and return analysis for projects
  • Support investment decision-making through transaction structure review, funding path analysis, and financial feasibility assessment
  • Monitor project financial performance during development and construction stages, and identify key financial risks

3. Treasury and Financing

  • Manage regional treasury matters, including cash planning, fund allocation, liquidity management, and banking relationships
  • Support project financing activities, including preparation of financing materials, lender communication, drawdown arrangements, and post-financing management
  • Optimize funding efficiency across the region and ensure sufficient financial support for project development and construction

4. Tax and Compliance

  • Oversee regional tax management, tax compliance, and tax risk identification across Southeast Asia
  • Work with internal stakeholders and external advisors on tax structuring and tax optimization where appropriate
  • Manage audits, statutory compliance, regulatory filings, and other local compliance matters in line with local regulations and group requirements
  • Monitor tax and regulatory developments in Southeast Asian markets and assess potential impacts on the business

5. Cross-functional and External Coordination

  • Work closely with development, investment, legal, financing, EPC, and HQ teams
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, accounting firms, banks, and other professional service providers
  • Support project closing, post-investment management, and exit-related finance matters
  • Contribute to regional finance team setup and management of external resources where needed

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Finance, Accounting, Tax, Audit, Economics, or a related discipline
  • 8+ years of relevant finance experience, preferably with regional finance or overseas finance exposure
  • Prior experience in renewable energy, power, infrastructure, project development, engineering, or cross-border investment is preferred
  • Solid understanding of accounting, treasury, financial analysis, tax compliance, and internal controls
  • Strong ability to support project-based business and understand investment and development logic
  • Familiarity with Southeast Asia financial, tax, and regulatory environments is a plus

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong financial analysis, risk identification, and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across functions and geographies
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-project environment
  • Hands-on, proactive, and results-oriented
  • Fluent English required; additional Southeast Asian language skills would be an advantage

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, ACCA, CFA, or other relevant professional qualifications preferred
  • Experience in project financing, tax planning, and project company management is a plus
  • Prior working experience in Southeast Asia or supporting projects in the region is preferred
