Job Purpose: The role shall be primarily responsible for directing and controlling all accounting activities of the Finance Department thus ensuring accurate and efficient accounting services provided by all departments. Responsible for statutory reporting, tax compliance, budget and forecast preparation, accurate bookkeeping, debtors, and credit management, reporting monthly results to GM. This position also involves strict compliance with the Financial Management guidelines set up by the company and local regulations and laws.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Credit/Debt Management: In conjunction with operations monitor collection. Ensure outstanding debts are collected within terms and monitoring prefunding as per ISS policies. Management of the prefunding monitoring process to ensure compliance with company guidelines, approval of principal refunds.
  • Tax matters: Income Tax preparation, review, and lodgement (external auditor is used for help). Having good understanding on local direct and indirect regulations.
  • Statutory reporting: Manage preparation of annual accounts in line with IFRS. Good understanding on revenue recognition, lease accounting and consolidation financial statements.
  • Budget/Forecast Preparation: In conjunction with GM, co-ordination and preparation of the annual budget and re-forecasting exercises and submission to corporate HQ, including the monthly forecasts. Co-ordination of the regional budget/forecast including liaison with regional operating companies to ensure timely and accurate submission. Preparation and submission of bi-monthly forecasts and weekly cash-flow forecasts, including consolidation of the region.
  • Reporting: Timely monthly preparation and submission of Regional Financial Management reports to the Group CFO. Ensure monthly submission and promotion of Hyperion data for the region.
  • Streamlining/Cost Saving Management: Recommend improvements to department policy and direct the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost effective services to customers.
  • Customer / Vendor Relationship. Establish and maintain effective formal and informal links with major customers. Maintain an awareness of customer requirements and any complaints to identify any areas that may need development or improvement.
  • Audit Support: Supporting the Auditor both external and internal in scheduled audit visits in the region
  • Leadership: Ensure the effective achievement of departmental goals through the leadership of these teams allocating resources, setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal.
  • Tender and Vendor Support and Administration: Assist GM, CGM/VP and Sales with tender submissions
  • UNIT4&Hyperion / Systems: Full utilisation of U4 & Hyperion as per ISS Standard Operating Procedures. The post holder will carry out any other duties as are within the scope and purpose of the job as requested by the Line Manager and ensure full utilisation of all ISS systems according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Any other ad hoc project assign by the management

  • Required to have good knowledge of Tax & Local regulations

Required Skills:

  • Strong command of written and spoken English
  • Strong numeracy, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Able to work independently as well as being a proactive team member
  • Hands-on and can-do spirit
  • Managing KPIs set by management
  • Leadership

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in financial accounting and internal controls
  • Experience in the maritime industry and shared service environment
  • Experience in a multi-national, multi-cultural organization
  • Staff management

Qualifications:

  • University degree in finance or accountancy
  • CPA or CA
