We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Finance Team Lead to own and build our finance function across both Australia and the Philippines. This is not a purely managerial role—you will be actively involved in the day-to-day financial operations while developing scalable processes, strengthening controls, and partnering with leadership to support the company's continued growth.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building systems, improving processes, and taking ownership of the entire finance function in a growing business.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Management
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for both the Australian and Philippine entities.
- Run Philippine payroll from start to finish, including semi-monthly payroll processing and all statutory remittances (SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG).
- Ensure payroll compliance with all Australian and Philippine employment legislation, taxation, and statutory requirements.
- Review payroll records, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions where required.
Accounting, Tax & Compliance
- Own the complete accounting cycle for both the Australian and Philippine entities, including month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Manage both Australian and Philippine Xero files as the primary system owner.
- Maintain the Chart of Accounts and ensure financial records remain accurate and well-structured.
- Prepare and lodge all Australian BAS/GST obligations in partnership with the company's Australian accounting firm.
- Support the preparation and lodgement of Australian company tax returns with external accountants.
- Prepare and lodge all Philippine BIR filings on time, including:
- VAT Returns (BIR Forms 2550M and 2550Q)
- Other required Philippine tax and statutory filings
- Ensure ongoing compliance with Australian and Philippine accounting, taxation, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, banks, and government agencies.
- Support the annual statutory audit for both entities.
Intercompany Accounting & Transfer Pricing
- Manage all intercompany transactions and reconciliations between the Australian and Philippine entities.
- Maintain the company's intercompany cost-plus model.
- Document and maintain the transfer pricing methodology to ensure audit readiness.
- Prepare supporting documentation for the annual Transfer Pricing Local File.
Financial Operations & Treasury
- Manage invoicing, billing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Manage cash flow and treasury across multiple currencies (AUD and PHP), including Australian banking facilities and UnionBank Philippines.
- Process disbursements while monitoring and reporting foreign exchange exposure.
- Maintain accurate cash flow forecasting and provide leadership with real-time visibility of cash position and working capital.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Produce meaningful management reports, including Profit & Loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, and financial analysis to support business decision-making.
- Perform account reconciliations and ensure financial records remain complete, accurate, and current.
Process Improvement & Finance Leadership
- Build, document, and continuously improve finance, payroll, and compliance processes.
- Develop scalable financial controls and maintain a comprehensive compliance calendar to reduce operational risk and ensure continuity.
- Create and improve financial systems, workflows, and reporting processes that support business growth.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and process optimisation.
- Safeguard confidential financial information while operating with a high level of autonomy, integrity, and accountability.
- Work closely with leadership to provide commercial insights, financial analysis, and recommendations that support strategic decision-making.
- Play a key role in building and strengthening the finance function as the company continues to grow.
Qualifications & Skills
- CPA, CA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification is highly regarded but not mandatory. Candidates with extensive senior-level accounting experience will also be considered.
- Proven experience managing finance, accounting, and payroll functions across both Australia and the Philippines.
- Strong knowledge of Australian and Philippine accounting standards, taxation, payroll legislation, statutory reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and lodging:
- Australian BAS/GST obligations
- Philippine BIR tax filings, including VAT returns
- Strong understanding of transfer pricing, intercompany accounting, and audit preparation.
- Extensive hands-on experience using Xero across multiple entities. Xero Certification is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong understanding of month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, treasury, and cash flow management.
- Experience building financial processes, controls, and scalable finance functions within a growing organisation.
- Exceptional analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills with outstanding attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with executives, external accountants, auditors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Previous experience working in an outsourcing, staffing, or professional services environment is highly desirable.
