Finance and Accounting Manager

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent is an advantage).
• CPA, in good standing

Experience

• At least 8 years progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role
• has experience handling BIR LOA
• Proven experience setting up or rebuilding an accounting function from incomplete or missing records (chart of accounts, books of accounts, journal entries, trial balance, financial statements)
• Experience with at least one accounting system (QNE / N3, QuickBooks, Xero, Sage/Peachtree, SAP B1, or similar)
• Experience in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, trucking, shipping, or logistics
• Experience registering or converting books (BIR Form 1905, PTU for loose-leaf, Acknowledgment Certificate /CAS)
• Experience hiring or supervising bookkeepers / AP-AR staff

Technical Skills:

• Hands-on competence in:
• Double-entry bookkeeping and proper journal entries
• General ledger, AR, AP, cash, bank reconciliation
• Month-end and year-end close
• Preparation of Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Comprehensive Income, Statement of CashFlows, and supporting schedules
• Strong working knowledge of Philippine tax and statutory compliance:
• BIR books of accounts (manual, loose-leaf, or computerized / CAS)
• VAT (2550M / 2550Q), expanded and compensation withholding (1601EQ, 1601C, 1604E/C), annual ITR(1702), alphalist / DAT
• Official receipts, invoicing rules, e-invoicing / CAS permit if applicable
• SEC filings (AFS, GIS) as applicable
• SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, and payroll-related statutory reports
• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations, management packs).
• Ability to produce management reports and insights, not just compliance filings: cash position, receivables aging, payables aging, margin by client/service, cash forecast, variance vs budget
• High integrity, detail-oriented, and comfortable working on-site in Manila with operations, documentation, and owners
• Clear written and spoken English; able to explain numbers to non-accountants
• External audit coordination and clean AFS issuance
• Internal controls design (approvers, cash, advances, OR/SI control, petty cash)
• Budgeting, costing, and pricing support (fee vs cost per shipment / per client)
• Familiarity with multi-entity setup
• Strongly prefer someone who understands:
• Billing vs actual disbursement matching (SOA, liquidations, unbilled advances, unliquidated cash advances)
• Cash-flow pressure typical of brokerage (advance duties first, collect later)
• Record retention relevant to BIR and BOC/broker record-keeping
• Coordination with operations and licensed brokers so every shipment that is billed is also booked
