Job Description

A Finance & Accounting Manager in the food industry oversees all financial operations while ensuring that the company maintains profitability, complies with accounting standards, and manages costs effectively. Because the food sector is fast-moving and cost-sensitive, this role plays a major part in budgeting, inventory cost control, and financial planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management & Reporting

Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

Maintain accuracy of general ledger and accounting records

Ensure compliance with local financial regulations and standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS)

Oversee tax filings and external audits

  • Budgeting & Forecasting

Develop annual budgets and rolling forecasts

Monitor financial performance against budget

Provide insights to management for cost-saving initiatives

Analyze variance reports and recommend corrective actions

  • Cost Accounting & Inventory Control

This Is Highly Important In Food Manufacturing/distribution

Oversee product costing, raw material cost tracking, and cost-of-goods-sold (COGS) analysis

Coordinate with production, procurement, and warehouse teams

Manage inventory valuation and conduct regular stock audits

Ensure proper cost allocation for labor, materials, and overhead

  • Cash Flow & Treasury Management

Monitor cash flow and working capital

Manage payables, receivables, and credit control

Optimize payment cycles and supplier terms

  • Leadership & Team Management

Lead the accounting team

Set KPIs and provide training

Ensure efficient month-end closing processes

  • Compliance & Internal Controls

Establish strong internal controls

Ensure adherence to food industry financial standards

Oversee risk management and implement financial policies

Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge in accounting principles

Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Netsuite, QuickBooks, etc.)

Advanced Excel skills

Cost accounting knowledge (critical in food manufacturing)

Soft Skills

Strong analytical mindset

Leadership and team management

Detail-oriented and organized

Good communication and reporting skills

Preferred Background

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

CPA or CMA is an advantage

Experience in food manufacturing, food distribution, FMCG, or similar industries
