Facilities Repair & Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary

The Facilities Repair & Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and overall upkeep of the organization's buildings, facilities, grounds, and equipment. This role ensures that all facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and operational standards. The position also manages maintenance personnel, coordinates with external contractors and vendors, and drives continuous improvements in facility operations and maintenance processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, grounds, equipment, and utilities to ensure optimal operational efficiency.
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance activities, renovation projects, safety inspections, and facility improvements.
  • Manage maintenance services, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and general building repairs.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for repairs, maintenance services, capital projects, and procurement of materials and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, occupational health and safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
  • Monitor maintenance budgets, control costs, and recommend cost-effective solutions for facility operations.
  • Lead initiatives focused on waste reduction, energy efficiency, and continuous process improvement.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to maintenance personnel, ensuring high-quality work, productivity, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Respond promptly to facility issues and implement effective corrective actions to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Prepare maintenance reports, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and recommend improvements to enhance facility performance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of facilities management, preventive and corrective maintenance, and building systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and general building maintenance.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes, occupational health and safety regulations, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Excellent project management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Strong vendor and contractor management experience, including negotiation and performance monitoring.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, with experience supervising maintenance teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or similar maintenance software.
