Job Summary
A leading audit and risk advisory team is looking for an External Auditor who can support complex client engagements across governance, risk, compliance, operational reviews, and control assessments. You'll apply your Big 4 or consulting experience to evaluate business processes, identify control gaps, and deliver practical recommendations that strengthen performance and accountability. The Qualifications We Seek
- Bachelor's degree in Auditing, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3-5 years of audit experience from a Big 4 firm or professional services/consulting environment, preferably supporting Australian clients
- Proven experience managing multiple client engagements and delivering audit services across diverse industries
- Strong knowledge of Australian auditing standards, regulatory requirements, governance frameworks, compliance obligations, and risk management frameworks such as ISO 31000
- Demonstrated experience in governance, risk, and control assessments across compliance, operational, and performance audits
- Hands-on experience in audit planning, process mapping, walkthroughs, risk assessments, control testing, risk identification, mitigation, and remediation
- Ability to evaluate business processes, identify control weaknesses, assess risk exposure, interpret audit findings, and recommend practical improvements
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, report-writing, stakeholder management, and communication skills
- Experience preparing audit documentation, working papers, client-facing reports, presentations, and professional recommendations
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple audit engagements in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Visio for audit documentation, analysis, reporting, and presentation preparation
Your Daily Tasks
- Conduct internal audit, risk, and compliance engagements in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Engage with stakeholders at various levels to support audit and advisory activities
- Perform technical and operational reviews across processes with varying risk profiles
- Prepare and maintain audit documentation and electronic working papers in a timely manner
- Summarize key findings and insights for review by senior team members
- Identify risks, issues, and control gaps, and document observations and recommendations
- Support the development of audit reports with clear, practical, and commercially relevant insights
- Escalate ethical concerns, risks, and conflicts in accordance with established protocols
- Develop an understanding of systems, processes, and internal control environments
- Utilize audit tools and methodologies to support engagement delivery
- Complete assigned tasks in line with project timelines and quality standards
- Maintain accurate records, including documentation, timesheets, and administrative requirements
