Your Role

As an External Audit Associate, you will support PCAOB-compliant audit engagements for SEC-registered broker-dealers by performing financial statement audit procedures, preparing audit documentation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You will work closely with engagement teams to deliver high-quality audits while maintaining adherence to firm methodologies and professional auditing standards.

Specifically, You Will

  • Perform financial statement audit procedures in accordance with PCAOB auditing standards and firm methodologies.
  • Execute audit testing for cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue recognition, and other key financial statement accounts.
  • Complete audit programs using firm-approved methodologies such as Thomson Reuters/PPC or similar audit platforms.
  • Prepare comprehensive audit workpapers that clearly document procedures performed, supporting evidence, and audit conclusions.
  • Perform audit testing related to broker-dealer net capital compliance and other regulatory requirements.
  • Review financial statements and disclosures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable accounting and reporting standards.
  • Analyze financial information to identify unusual trends, variances, and potential audit risks.
  • Identify audit findings and communicate observations, recommendations, and issues to engagement teams.
  • Collaborate with senior auditors, managers, and clients throughout audit engagements to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Maintain compliance with firm policies, PCAOB standards, SEC regulations, and professional auditing requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by maintaining audit quality and staying current with changes in auditing standards and regulatory requirements.

What You Need

Non-negotiables

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of public accounting audit experience.
  • Experience performing financial statement audits and preparing audit workpapers.
  • Strong understanding of auditing procedures, accounting principles, and financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce high-quality audit documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple audit engagements while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Preferred Skills/expertise

  • CPA license or active CPA candidate.
  • Experience auditing SEC-registered broker-dealers, investment advisers, or other regulated financial institutions.
  • Familiarity with PCAOB auditing standards and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Experience performing broker-dealer net capital compliance testing.
  • Knowledge of Thomson Reuters/PPC or similar audit methodology software.
  • Experience working with regulated financial services organizations.
  • Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining audit quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous professional development.
