It builds on over 30 years of investment by the Government of Australia into the Philippines education sector and supports the Philippine government's commitment to improve the global competitiveness of the Philippine education and labour market. EQUIP reflects the collective interest of Australia and the Philippines to foster a robust and adaptive education system where learners and graduates can thrive in an increasingly digitalised economy.
EQUIP aims to support the Philippines inclusive economic growth ambitions by ensuring the labour force is well equipped with skills relevant to meet the needs of the country's rapidly transforming economy. EQUIP aims to promote skills development in senior high school and enable a smooth transition to the labour force, whether immediately upon leaving school or after further education. It will also support Philippine Government agencies improve its policies and practices to support relevant skills pathways for senior secondary school learners.

The Role
A significant proportion of learners in Grades 9–12 continue to perform below the expected proficiency levels in numeracy, limiting their ability to fully engage in Senior High School learning and to successfully transition to higher education, training, and employment opportunities. Strengthening foundational numeracy is therefore essential to improving learner outcomes, enhancing employability, and equipping young people with the competencies needed to thrive in an increasingly complex and technology-driven world.
In response, EQUIP program seeks to strengthen the foundational and 21st century skills of Grades 9-12 learners by improving the development of numeracy skills that enable learners to apply mathematical understanding in authentic contexts, solve problems, make informed decisions, and participate effectively in lifelong learning and the workforce.
In collaboration with EQUIP's technical team, the Numeracy Consultant will provide technical inputs and expertise in the design, development, and implementation of evidence-based intervention programs, including tools, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening numeracy competencies among Grades 9-12 learners and supporting the effective implementation of pilot interventions on numeracy skills development across learning areas and programs in EQUIP pilot schools.
