Review and gain an understanding of plans and specification
Develop accurate and detailed scope of works
Issue clear quote requests to subcontractors and suppliers for various trades and materials
Proactively follow up outstanding quote requests to ensure timely responses, helping maintain project timelines and avoid pricing delays
Review incoming quotes including checking for scope alignment and assist in compiling comparisons to identify best value options and potential gaps or exclusions
Accurately measure and quantify take-offs from plans through our internal estimating software
Enter take off data into the estimating software and apply pre-set recipes / costing formulas to generate pricing
Create basic construction drawings or sketches to visually support scopes and assist with tender documents as required
Liaise with in house estimator, subcontractors, suppliers and project team members to ensure smooth information flow throughout the estimating process
Regularly update our job management and estimating software to ensure the latest communication with any subcontractor or supplier is recorded
Contribute in compiling tender packages, documents and supporting materials for submission
Update and review current recipes / cost formulas within our estimating program and make authorised changes as required
Assist our Construction Supervisor in sending our purchase orders to contractor and suppliers as required
Produce construction schedules / timelines if required for submission with tender packages
Qualifications
Minimum 3-4 years experience in construction estimating preferably within commercial fitouts / refurbishment
Understanding of Australian construction methods, terminology and trade sequencing
Sketch Up Experience desirable but not critical
Great knowledge of Australian Building codes
Strong estimating knowledge in the commercial construction sector (fitouts, refurbishments, defits, new builds etc)
Proficient in quantity take offs using architectural and engineering plans
Basic understanding or project management workflows in construction
Prior use of cloud- based project management systems (eg. Job Tread, Procore, Buildertrend, BuildXact or similar)
